Default ECU for drive by wire
I plan on running a drive by wire setup. I currently have an 04 LQ4 with drive by wire throttle body and LS1 intake.

I realize that many vehicles did not come with DBW. Does it matter which ECU I go after? Can Non-DBW ECUs be re-flashed to incorporate it?

Maybe.....the easiest solution is to use an ecm, tac, and pedal that all go together.
It can get really complicated trying to mix and mafch components.

If you have an 04 PCM it should be able to control drive by wire if you reprogram it and re-pin the harness to match. Just pick a pin layout for the vehicle you are robbing the TAC and pedal from and then reprogram your PCM to match that vehicle.

The biggest question are you running stick or automatic?
Your selections will be a lot more limited if you're planning on running stick

Not trying to hijack the thread, but how does a manual/auto transmission effect selecting DBW components?

Because very few DBW vehicles were produced with manual transmissions, it is hard to find combinations that work

I'm running an 02 truck 6.0 with DBW that came from an automatic Escalade. Bolted it to a Richmond 6 speed, no problems.

For GEN III, use a vette service # PCM, maybe even the tune. 0411 is popular

For GEN IV use a GTO or 10 camaro service # PCM

Main thing is to make sure your PCM is DBW compatible, then match your harness pinout to the PCM and use a matching TAC module

So, from what I gather, it would be wise to search for the 12200411 PCM.

This PCM has the hardware to drive the IAC on cable throttle bodies, and can be used for DBW throttle bodies, depending on the firmware installed.

Can anyone confirm this?
