Default Merkur Xr4ti 4.8 express van conversion

Hi All,

Im using a 2006 4.8 out of a chevy express van and a 700r4 transmission, truck inlet but rotated, corvette bat wing oil pan, BBC mounts on custom brackets. Trans tunnel opened up and everything moved back 3".

Im most of the way through the conversion and have the motor running but need some advise on exhaust manifolds, the right hand bank is sorted with a firebird stock manifold but I dont have enough room for the left one with the steering shaft/UJ being in the way.. I cant post for parts in the wanted section. The shortest manifold that ive seen that may fit is the corvette C6 or the cadillac CTS-v.. if anyone has one lying around for sale.

I will get some photos up soon.

So was there just not enough room up front for the throttlebody? And how are you going to hook up the 700r4 TV cable? Cool project, good luck with it.

The hood closes with the manifold reversed, Tv cable all hooked up and working too.. actually drove the car in and out of the workshop, but not on the road yet as I need a header or a small drivers exhaust manifold.

What ever came of this?

I always thought it would be cool to get a Merkur and make it look like an RS500.

The car is done and running well, but cant pass california smog because its a 2006 4.8 truck motor that I fitted to a 700r4, I can fit a car engine and matching transmission or fit a 90+ chevy LT1 motor to match the transmission I already have, so it will pass the BAR. Crazy Cali rules suck.
