Default 2001 S-10 LSx Swap

I just wanted to post a few pictures of the 2001 LSx swap I'm working on. When we built the mounts and crossmember we built them as a bolt-in, we only drilled one hole for the transmission crossmember on the driver's side. I work for a company that builds mounts so don't be surprised if it looks firmiliar. I'm not trying to sell the kits, I just wanted to show everyone the swap we're doing. I was surprised to see how easy it was to install the engine after we removed the mock-up parts to finish welding them. The only modifications are the #7 & #8 coils will have to be relocated and the passanger side coil bracket needs to be trimmed. I used the LH8 oil pan, it sticks down below the crossmember 3/4". On the passanger side I've found a manifold that will work, but couldn't find one for the driver's side so I'm going to talk to the guys at Hedman about a set of headers.

Looks good. What manifolds did you try on the driver's side? I was looking at the LS3 Camaro manifolds and curious if they would fit.

I tried a truck manifold and what I think is an f-body manifold, but neither of them clear the steering shaft.

Looks good. I'm in the process of swapping out an LS6/T56 into my 97 S10 as we speak.

Well the truck is heading over to Hedman to build 1 3/4" long tubes with all 4 tubes inside the frame, they think can get them to fit inside the frame. I post more pics during the build of the headers. They are finishing up the Fox Body 2" headers for another swap we did, those headers turned out killer.

Once you get those built, will they be avalible for others to purchase? I am looking for some 1 3/4 LT's that will stay in the frame, and have all the good stuff most LSx LT's have. Like welded in o2 bungs, 3/8 thick flanges, and some stainless tubing used for construction.

We are working 1 3/4" LTs inside the frame, we are going to try and get 1 7/8" just to see if they fit. We don't weld the O2 bungs into the headers, we include the bung and un-coated extensions so that you can weld them in place just make sure they clear everything on your particular installation. The flanges are 3/8" thick and they include all of your hardware. We don't have stainless available yet, but we are looking into it. All of our headers come ceramic coated. We are in the process of renewing our sposorship of LS1tech, so I don't want to sound like a sales pitch. As soon as we are re-listed as a sponsor I'll give more information, but over the past few months since I started working here we have gone back through all of the kits to address any issues and see what we could do to take them to the next level.

Question curious?

I have a '01 S10 that I want to put at least an Ls1 in. Was this a direct drop in or was there alot of mods done to the truck to make the swap possible?

It is a drop in, with the correct oil pan and the swap kit. There are no mods to the frame, trans tunnel or a/c box.

OK, we are once again a sponsor of LS1TECH! So now we can discuss the 1995-2003 S-10 LSx swap kit. My personal username is ProStreetZ28, but when I'm at work I'll post under the BRPhotrods username. For accountability whenever I'm posting under the BRP account I'll sign the post with my name, since there are three of us here with access to the account. It was brought to our attention a few months ago that there were some problems with our S-10 kit in the 2nd gen trucks. We verified this by going around to a few shops and salvage yards and test fitting the mounts. The new kit is a complete redesign. We strived to make this kit as close to a complete bolt-in as possible. There is no cutting of the chassis or a/c box with our kit. We designed it around the LH8 oil pan, and there is 1/2" from the front of the pan to the rear of the crossmember, and approx 1/4" to 3/8" between the cylinder head and the a/c box. The new design of the transmission crossmember is a true bolt-in for the T-56 and only requires one bolt hole to be drilled for the 4L60E tranmission. The parts for the kit have already been laser cut and we've already built the first group of kits, they will be back from powder coating towards the end of next week. We try to keep all of our kits in-stock once we put them on our web-site so that there isn't a delay when you order (some headers are built to order). If you have one of our previous kits that you havent installed yet please PM me or call me at 770-751-0687 and we'll swap the parts out for you. Sorry for anyone that has had a problem with our kits in the past we are striving to correct any issues we find with them as quickly as possible.

That's awesome, do you have a build thread or anything? If not please post pictures or email them to us.

Will the transmission crossmember for the 2nd gen S-10s be available seperate from the engine mounts?
All I see right now is a kit, but I have a set of mounts that work very well and will just be wanting the T-56 crossmember.

It has the stock 5speed trans in it now but I'm not shure what one. Will I have to change it or just the bellhousing?

Our kit is not designed to work with the factory 5-speed, right now we offer a kit for the 4L60E and the T-56.
