Projekt Wrekt: 1969 Camaro w/ Carb'd LS1 & T56
#21
Need Some assistance regarding getting the motor mount adapter plates to align with my transmission crossmember for the LS1/T56 in my 69 Camaro. I have tried the S&P crossmember but had no success due to the 1" setback motor adapter plates I'm using along with the Doug's LS swap headers. Hopefully someone out there has had experience with different variations of crossmembers including the ATS (http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...unt2=527000069), PATC Raptor-X (http://www.transmissioncenter.net/ra...rossmember.htm), Hurst Drivelines, BRP Hotrod (http://www.brphotrods.com/mm5/mercha...gory_Code=CNV1), or Bowtie Overdrives T56 crossmembers (http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...php?ITEMID=690). Any technical advice, actual photos or any kind of wisdom anyone can possible share will be most appreciated. Since I have the engine running and brakes working, I am only missing getting the hydraulic clutch system to be bled and getting in working order and mounting the transmission to the frame. I am actually very interested in the TH4oo crossmember that bolts to the side of the frame rails instead of bolting onto the top of the frame. This is the style of crossmember that I am going for:
This is my current problem, getting a crossmember to fit my LS1/T56 combo using the 1"setback mounts. Below is the Street & Performance crossmember that did not fit between the frame rails due to the placing of the motor mounts.
I am showing a picture of the driver side adapter plate and solid motor mount that bolted right in to the factory frame with some handy manipulation using the engine hoist and a floor jack.
Installed in car.
