Default CSR TStat housing heat question?

Does the factory heat still work with the CSR straight thermostat housing? What about the S&P? These seem to be the only two aftermarket straight tstat housings out there??? Im thinking about just modifying my existing truck housing as well, but I still need the heat to work.

How does changing the T-stat housing affect the heater core lines?

From several of the threads I have read, the factory Tstat has a separator that goes between the two heater lines where as a SBC Tstat used with the CSR housing does not. I have seen several threads here that state this, that is why Im trying to figure it out for certain from someone running one.

There is no such separator

Depending on the year, the stat itself is either removable or attached to the neck. Other than that, the stat/neck interchanges freely with any LSx

The CSR housing. using the SB chevy thermostat lacks the separator like the stock LS thermostat.

The heat in my 98 TJ with the CSR housing is ok in the winter running a 190 degree thermostat. Not great.

If and I may do it either the S&P housing or weld up two stock housings to use the LS thermostat.

I'm using an LS2 thermostat in an LS1 pump. I'm guessing the LS2 thermostat would fit under the CSR housing and it would have the spring loaded separator between the inlet/outlet for the heater.

Ok.... So Is there, or is there not a seperator??? I have now officially heard both. I need my heat to work, but I need a straight housing.

Does the S&P use the stock style Tstat?

Since the CSR redesign the chevy style thermostat fits even worse (pretty much doesn't) and it never had the provision for the heater core side of things. Street and performance works well but costs $$$. I have some custom made with 160 factory style stats in them but they aren't cheap either. All I know is the CSR ones really dont work well since they redesigned them.

I emailed them several days ago and never got a response. I guess that answers that. I think I found several shops in town that can tig the factory housing if I modify it, so that is the route Im going to go. I can't loose the use of my heat.

I have the CSR in my Jeep.

If you look inside the LS water pump the stock LS thermostat keeps the heater hose inlet and outlet separated. The CSR housing and the old style chev thermostat don't keep them separated. I assume since the flow is reduced to the heater core it causes the low heat output.

It looked like to me the S&P housing uses the LS thermostat.
