Default Ls1 rx7 Fuel System (CA smog way)

As the owner of an LS1 rx7 I have come to learn a lot about the swap. The hardest part is the fuel system (to be California emissions legal that is). I have talked with a few refs on this issue. Your car cannot throw codes so this means you need to have all the cars fuel systems working.

This made me wonder...how is this possible. So I did the logical thing and asked. You need to take the in tank assembly from the camaro and put this in the rx7 tank. I am unsure about the FD guys but in my FC this is how the measurements go.

The rx7 tank opening for the assembly is 4 inches from the back to the front. From side to side is the real problem, its only 2 13/16 inches. The ls1 assembly is about 4 1/2 inches in diameter. As you can see thats a little off.

To make you feel a little better there is a lip on the ls1 assembly. It changes the diameter to about 3.81 inches. Still a bit off. This means you would have to cut off about 1/2 and inch off each side of the assembly or the tank. Just to mention this is just to get it in ...you also have to make it seal.

In theory you would need to cut a circlular shape to make it fit. I believe I am going to take the best method and do some tank welding and cutting. I will add more to this thread as I finish.

I will add more later.

I thought you didn't need the tank you needed the EVAP stuff all over the tank? Couldn't you just get a tank built or reuse the stock tank and add all the F body evap stuff from the tank near it?
