Have you tried making a skid plate for it to protect it like they do on 4x4 so incase it hit something it will be deflected under and away?

That should be a fun project. If you want your sway to protect the oil pan couldn't you simply make some spacers and get it to the desired height with longer bolts?

That is what we do on the FC RX-7 conversions.

Looks like you already decided on the Q45 rear but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth. I totally agree with the others here. I had the stock 4.08 rear in mine and it pretty much made the T56 useless in 1st unless you wanted to do an insane burn out. With the 3.54 Q rearend it is much more friendly to drive. Plus as you probably know you get the 30 spline axles and bigger hubs plus VLSD. My motor make 530hp and gets abused pretty heavily and so far its hanging in there.

most 4x4 actually have a frame that you can weld or bolt something to and might absorb some impacts, there's only sheet metal in front of the si14, I just wished the oil pan was a little higher that way i could lower the car with no worries, there's plenty of spacing between oil pan and ground so it's no issue going over speed bumps, i not too much worried about any rocks hitting it just bottoming out

leaving the sway bar where it is takes the temptation away from me to slam the 240 on the ground which i would love to, but afraid to.

I glad forums exist on the internet for this info and reassurance, I am already decided on the q45 swap but just want to make sure it can take abuse, there's just no one here in baton rouge to ask, the only time i see any high horsepower 240's are at drift events and they show up and leave.

I sent you a link with the full Nissan service manual. Should help you figure it all out. I totally removed my under hood fuse / relay center and installed my own in the passenger side air bag location. It cleans up the engine bay and I removed a ton of extra and unnecessary wiring. I then built my own front end harness for the ligths, horn, etc. and a second one just for the engine / trans.

thanks this will make it much easier than tracing wires through the door harness.

Make sure you know what year q45 the diff comes from. The 97 and up are 3.69 and don't use the big axles. I did a write up on silviav8 forums on how to do it.

I would love to tell you i know exactly what to do to make the camaro harness work with the nissan harness but i dont, I pretty much removed the entire nissan harness inside and out, only left some pig tails for lights windows, doors, using autometer gauges and using a radar detector with gps speedometer reading built in, as for the engine ecu i went the easy route and since the person who pulled out the motor chopped up some wires i bought a painless ls1 hot rod harness, makes it so much easier to hook up the ecu. pricey though. ~$650 i think. Plus i bought a painless 18circuit fuse block, and a relay block and about 10 different rolls of wire of different color.

I know that if you send the inside and outside harness of the 240sx and the ls1 harness, sikky can make it work for a price and i think hinson can too.

There is just so many extra wires that are not needed with the stock ls1 harness, the painless harness to me just make the install so much cleaner and easier.

IMO they handle great after the swap. There really isn't that big of a weight difference between the Iron block 4 cylinder and the Aluminum LS1.

Oh and another bonus to the 3.54 Q45 rear end is if you happen to daily drive this thing, 75 mph on the highway is around 1900 rpms.
