Default Cheap Shorty Headers

I am searching for cheap and I mean cheap set of shorty LSx headers. I'm building a low budget 944/5.3 for the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge so my budget is set at $2010 now it looks like it'll be next year due to work and time constraints.
So, I've got a little breathing room to finish the car. I know that there has to be someone out there who has an extra set of headers they don't need.
Regards
Mark

If no one comes up with a cheap set, go with stock corvette manifolds. Flow as well as most shortie headers and dirt cheap on ebay.

+1 on the Vette manifolds; they support 400HP so that ought to be plenty enough for the 5.3. I used the ones from an LS6 Vette that have some nice heat shields; they're actually a tri-Y design.

Thanks for the feed back. I've got a set of the vette manifolds, not enough room for the drivers side. Hence, modifing a header.

I have seen cheap sets of block huggers out there sub $200. Can't place where however.
There are individuals on here that use 5.0 stang headers with LS flanges. This combo, if you strike the right sales can be sub $100. Don't know how much cheaper you can get!

Good Luck.

I had steering shaft interference with shorty headers, GTO, manifolds, and CTSV manifolds.
Ultimately what fit for me were 2006 5.3 Truck manifolds. You can probably find some cheap enough to try, and easily resell because people use them for turbo kits fairly often.

you can use header's off of a mustang 5.0 and just change the flanges.

Hope this helps

Did you look at the 2010 camaro manifolds, they flow good and dump further back, then to corvette ones, if you need a picture email me and I'll send you one

Thanks for all your suggestions. So far the "best" header is a proven and documented modification of an off the shelf hooker header. That throws a wrench in my budget.
I found a used set of ford shorty headers on craigslist that might be a possibility.
If you have other suggestions I'm open.

Careful with the SBF shorties. They are often small primaries for the small displacement engine. Instead find some used BBC shorties and swap the flange. Those are generally 1.75" or larger and are common for <$50

I was just thinking that as I looked at the Porche link. REAL small primaries.

Ill be running the Sanderson short block huggers for my Jeep conversion. They aren't "cheap" but they are certainly quality parts. I would have run the Hooker headers, but they won't clear my motor mounts.

Summit also makes a set there were close, but the dump is to far forward.

I have a friend running LS2 headers that are fairly short and cheap. I would run these, but Im having issues finding a set...

I also have Sandersons, had to modify the driver side. The primaries are only 1.5 inches but they work well for my purposes. Quality is top notch, they seal to the heads without gaskets, just some black Permatex. 4 years and 14k miles with no leaks.

The big block shorties sound good. If any one knows of some let me know.
