If you are doing a fairly stock or mild LS transplant, then cutting/sectioning a stock oil pan will work just fine and is certainly cheaper than some of the aftermarket pans. If you plan to push some rpms or need some extra oil capacity for say a couple turbos, then I would suggest adding oil volume (aftermarkets pan) vs reducing volume (cutting stock pan). Lots of different options - choose which way fits your goals.

Old thread but I'm bringing back to life. I have a 69, just test fitted my lq4/4l80 yesterday. I have the stock fbody pan and the centerlink touches just before full lock. I'm using the hooker plates. I'm pretty sure I can make this setup work without notching the pan

Not sure but maybe the slightly longer 67 idler and pitman will give you the clearance you need to clear the pan with the hooker plates. I know a couple guys have done that here and they clear the stock F body pan without cutting. Classic has the 67 idler for $49.00, cheapest I found anywhere...

Retro LSX was selling the JZ Motorworks pan. Holley bought the rights to the pan and will be selling it in the spring. I have one of the pans and would consider turning loose of it for what I paid for it + shipping. It's new and has never been installed on an engine. I bought it for my A body project but am looking at going a different route on the pan. It seems like it was $399.
