I found the culprit haha
This thing left metal chunks all inside the axle housing. Surprisingly, the end of the axle which twisted and broke off, lodged itself inside the carrier which prevented any of the debris from getting inside the pumpkin and trashing the gears. It's 12 bolt time... She won't be moving again this year.
