This is too cool!
I am building an LS1 84 C4, and came here to search about LS1 Jeeps. This combines my two project ideas!
I want to build a fiberglass jeep that handles. I was thinking C4 suspension but w AWD. Way more fab work than I am up for though...
I am subscribing!!
Keep up the great work!

Here's a pic with the boat anchor gone and the beginning of test fitting the LR4. I got $500 for the 350/700r4 and paid only $550 for the lr4/4l60e. This has done been on the cheap. I think I'm in it like $1200 right now, after selling a bunch of extra stuff. I still need to sell the hardtop and buy some rims so I think its going to end up less than $1500. Progress is slow these days as I drive to Stockton every weekend to pick up my daughter so I only work on it a few hours in the evenings after work.

That is a sick idea. I considered building a diesel AWD C4. I was going to use an S10 front frame clip and a 6.5 turbo diesel. V8 S10's are common. Lug pattern would even match. What did you do about your tranni mount on your LS1 C4? I'm using a stock F body 4l60 and planning to make an adapter to go to the stock C channel. Do you know what I'm talking about?. Also, what are you doing for instrumentation? I ditched the digital dash and bought a Silverado cluster. I haven't installed it yet. What are you doing for gages? Also, did you have to notch the firewall? Did you cut down your engine mount towers and use LS1 mounts? I think I'm going to do that. How are you doing your AC? I saw where one guy used the late model compressor but it really buries it down against the K member. I took off the LR4 AC compressor and am planning to mount the 84 compressor where the idler is on the main belt and use a longer belt.

Working on the C channel to 4l60e. Might add one more brace. I know, looks kind of weak compared to stock but I think it will do.

Also, I realized the pan would be about an inch off the ground so I got a C5 pan off ebay for $150. Hope it fits. It should, right, barring any exhaust issues? I have the truck exhaust way back against the firewall. Also, I have 29" between frame rails, so I think the C5 pan will fit (on a 2001 4.8).

Yep, that's how they look. In the picture you can't see a big piece of angle. I've got the motor/trans sittin in the car now. More pics soon. Plan to work on exhaust this afternoon.

Engine crossmember.

The engine is in for the last time (I think) and the exhaust is done. Tranny cooler lines almost done. Next up is wiring
. That is one fat wiring loom.
