I am having trouble with my coils and power booster. They touch and am sure will end up being a problem. I was told that there are different coils that mount up higher on the valve covers. I am using the ones that came on my '02 lq4.

Can anyone tell me what year and what motor the ones that mount up higher might be? Trying to keep my stock power booster if possible.

yes the other style truck coils will fix your problem.. they are just like the ls1 ls2 style the spark plug wire port is lower and not rasied up like those...


these coils have heatsinks on them they are known to be the best coils

Truck coils may require changing the connectors on the harness.

You might be able to move the coil mount enough to clear that.

 

Just move that one coil over 1/4"

 

just buy a new smaller booster. . . .

all you have to do is unbolt it and re-drill the holes in the steel a couple fractions of an inch over... definitely the cheapest and easiest solution

 

The LS2 coils sit higher on the valve cover than the LS1 coils.

 

x4 on just moving the coil over a little bit. You could leave the top hole the same and just rotate it over and drill a new bottom hole.

 

Get a set of CTSV/LS3 coils and valve covers, The coils are 3 times stronger, smaller more compact in design and sit flat , and the new valve cover design has NO coil brackets , coils mount right to the valve covers, much cleaner looking too
