Why did you pick a TH400? Motor doesnt have ton of power to need it ,and that 400 will drain quiet a bit.

I went with TH400 cause it's strong than a TH350 and that i have plans for a turbo and I don't want to spent money twice on a transmission.

Also stock drive shaft woulnt work with TH400 with long tailshafts.

what else did you have to do for the TH400 swap. Speedo is different, and what shifter did you use. What rear gear do you have, I have a 4:10 so I was planning on the T56 but I have a spare TH400 in the garage.
thanks for the info

Nice swap... me and a friend are doing the same swap almost with his 88 stang GT.

5.3, milled .60 LS6 heads, TH350, 3.73, truck pan and belt drive 3000 stall. We used AJE k-member and mounts.

220/220 114 lsa 580 lift cam

still need headers and drive shaft and trying to figure out the steering cant make any factory manifolds work... (unless we put them forward for a turbo LOL)

Tell me about those headers?

Th400 swap would be the same as th350 other than the driveshaft. I had the trans built without a speedometer gear, and I am using a cheetah shift set up for the reverse manual valve body. I also have a 4:10 gear with a spool.

Sounds like your building a sweet setup as well. The headers are dynatechs and if I could go back I would have spent the extra money and bought the Kooks which seem to be a lot nicer.

I love my Dynatechs. When motor comes out this winter They will get ceramic coated though. I've seen more issues of kooks, and them not seeming interested in fixing it either...

Looking at the short headers from BRP also... 399 coated.

Kooks are nice but close to a grand is steap on a budget build. I found a set of longtube camaro headers we may try with a little welding. I will let you guys know what happens.

That cam is gonna RIP in the 5.3!

My old car with the 5.3 had a pretty big cam 234/238 and over 600 lift also on a 112 with a few degrees built in. the car pulled nice and hard up to 7k rpm. Mine was with a 4L80 and a first gen LS1 intake manifold which was holding me back I'm sure but it put down 386rwhp through the auto.... I think you're gonna love it is what I think! LOL

Are your heads stock? You can mill the 5.3 heads ALOT for some extra HP and way more rev to it.... I think I milled mine a little over 55 thou and still had plenty of PTV clearance. WCCH actually turned me onto milling for good cheap HP increase on the 5.3's - LOL I remember having to smack the intake manifold pretty good for it to "pop into place" so that the little plastic locating dowels lined up and sat where they're supposed to.

Hurry and get thing boosted! You'll never go back . . .

Call them and explain your issue, they will send out the new revised headers; from what the thread about this same issue mentioned...

Don't think the problem is his header but that the engine is sitting crooked.

dynatech headers had an issue with fox headers but there is a fix just call them and send it back. i think they made the 94+ headers and 79-93 all the same but they dont fit foxes. so they redesigned it.

Thanks But it wasn't the headers. It was actually the AJE K-member, They sent me a new one and everything is sitting square. New problem though there trans cross member will not work with the buick long tail Turbo 400. So now II have to make a new mount.
