Well I have the engine mounted, however, it's not permanent. I still have several things to torque on the internals, and some other stuff.

I'm in the process of planning a transmission cross member to build, and working on the horendous cracks in the dash. A new set of Autometer gauges is on the list to be purchased in the NEAR future. Thats all I have for now!

Nice job you're doing. Here are a couple pics of mine.

I got the motor in a few months ago but have been focusing now on the body and paint. The engine bay is painted (getting dusty now though). The motor is an '04 Corvette LS1 with 799 heads and a CheaTR LS2 cam. T56 trans with Spec alum. flywheel/clutch. I bought the engine and trans mounts from JCI and also the drive-shaft. My car is undergoing a full restoration aside from the engine swap.

Keep up the good work on your project.

I used to be. I just lurk now. If I can't figure something out on my own, I'll search and find what I need and move on. I'm not really modifying this car to much extreme. Just a clean restoration with a nice motor.

I'm working on my dash also. I'm still debating whether or not to use aftermarket gauges. I have it out and am putting a full cover on it.

The way I looked at it, the stock gauges wouldn't be able to accomodate for my camaro gas tank, or be able to use an electronic tach signal, or an electric speedo signal. Basically would have had to re-work all of them, and just wasn't worth the hassle. Plus, autometers are teh secks

Finished the transmission crossmember today, It turned out alright. The damn frame rails were so thin that I had to plate them with some 14 gauge before I could weld on my 1/8" tabs. I'll try to get some pictures, its just been crazy here lately.

UPDATE!

I have had the tranny mount built for quite a while. I'd say total time it took me about 4 hours, largely in part due to the fact that I was working by myself and also had to take the tranny out and clearance the tunnel before starting to build it.

Picked up a set of ebay shorties from a friend, and this is how it looks now. (see ebay header thread for more pics) There is a large possibility that I'll be going turbo in the not so distant future. Since I don't like to buy parts twice, I thought this would be a good opportunity to make a header purchase.

I have decided that I'm not gonna use the truck accessories (in the pic). I picked up an ls1 water pump, alternator and bracket, and I had the crank pulley, so I'm just impatiently awaiting their arrival. Being that there has been like 10" of snow the last couple days, I've been severely un-motivated to leave the house. I did go get my dash, and I'll probably be working on that this afternoon.

Also, made the executive decision that I'll be using White Autometer gauges.

Well I think.......... lol. I'm gonna order those today also, hopefully.

I really enjoy watching z builds. Your engine bay is looking really nice. One thing I regret on my setup is: I have to pull my headers off to check my plugs. What is the plug access like with those headers?

Here are some shots of mine.

Its an Autokraft oil pan. I was just going to use an F-body oil pan, but besides being a pain in the *** to find, they're usually overpriced and incomplete. I picked this up off a guy locally, and for little more than a song. IIRC, they're about $450. Fitment is nice, and plenty of room for exhaust.f

Started work on the dash last night. It was ROUGH. Had at least 3 cracks the entire way through, all the way from the windshield to the gauge cups.

Here it is after filling the cracks with Great Stuff foam, and trimming them, then prepping and smearing on some 2 part epoxy. Its a work in progress.

haha sorry about spelling your screen name wrong, and thanks for the info. Plus that is a great idea for the dash, I might give it a try and flock the dash so I won't have to worry so much about smoothing and such!

Hey, no biggie. I've seen several other people do their dash like this, so I thought "i'm broke, I'll give it a try!" So far so good. If I had it to do over, I would use a very limited amount of the great stuff foam. Its much less dense than the original, and doesn't seem to take to bonding as well. The stuff I'm using for epoxy is made by Evercaot. It's a "fast urethane adhesive" and works well. There is a "medium" that doesn't set as fast, and could be used. I plan on using plastidip on the dash after its smooth enough, and from there paint it.
