congrats on the swap man. i updated the X-body swap thread with a link to yours... hopefully this will alleviate some of the complaints about the threads on there being too old

how was the fitment with those clipster headers? i just had to pull my ARH's off to do some front-end work... man what a pain in the ***. had to pull the PS gear to drop the d/s. on the plus side, i finally got to put the inspection cover on...

THANKS Hookemdevils i know even if the threads are old they have good info

The Clipster Headers fit GREAT on the Passengers Sid but on the drivers side fit good around my Power steering but was hitting my Oil pan i am running the AutoKraft pan so i had to cut the tops of each header tube and pull out on the header from the bottom all i needed was 3/8 of an inch to clear the pan and after a little pulling and more cutting i got the 3/8 i needed and have room for the power steering.

I called Patriot and talked to them and they told me they built the headers to work with the Moroso & Milodon Pans but after a Little cutting and welding they work with my Autokraft pan just fine and i have all the room i need for the power steering and the oil pan.

And the good thing about the Clipster headers they only cost $350.00 so i did not feel to bad for cutting them to make them fit.

This winter i would like to do a Cam Swap and need some help with picking a Cam that sounds good and i don't need to change the Valve Springs.

talk to patrick g for your cam choice. he's got a sheet you fill out w/ your specs, and he can set you up with a grind from comp for $399 + a $25 consultation fee.

edit: regardless of cam choice, it's a good idea to purchase springs to match.

Would a Z06 cam be worth the upgrade & would he need the springs changed for that?

That upper Radiator hose looks like it was meant to be there. Do you have a Part number or Vehicle application it comes from? My 72 nova/LS1 swap is going to need it soon!

you can get a z06 cam and springs for pretty cheap - check the classifieds. it's a popular upgrade, and worth it for the budget-conscious rodder IMO.

In the meantime, here's a 5.3 w/ the Z06 cam. Not sure which- the 01 is different from the 02-04 (less lift/duration, tighter LSA). Sounds like a nice mellow idle w a hint of lope. The LSA is pretty wide at 116 (01)/117.5 (02-04), which helps smooth the idle considerably.

Well id have to do some looking back at other threads again to get the exact answer, but..

I have seen intakes full of oil, cars buring too much oil, lack of power, smoke out of the exhaust.

I will dig a little and repost.

Ok i was talking to one of my friends the other day and he has a 2002 camaro and he was looking at the LS1 in my nova and asked me about the PCV line not being hooked up and i told him it was broke when i got the car and i just fixed it like i have it now with out a PCV. He then told me that his PCV line broke on his car about a year back and when he unhooked it his car Lost some of its Power and asked if my car was Lacking power and i told not that i could tell so that is way i was asking about the PCV line.

Now that you found out the PCV line can take away some power and make oil stand in the intak i might need to look at fixing it and hooking it back up.

THANKS a Lot 74nova.

Not a Problem, I just wish i knew this before i sold my 94 Camaro.

The car had an LT4 package, heads cam and intake, but the pcv system was rigged in by the previous owner and i didnt know any better. The car wouldnt run better than 14.6 1/4mile. With 150. Nitrous it still wouldnt dip a 13. soot all over the back bumper. ended up hurting the engine, somehow wore out the thrust bearing on the crank.

There was about 6k in engine upgrades and suspension before i bought the car. Just sad.

OK I fixed the PCV line and can tell the car runs a little better and has a smother idle. O and just to let you guys know My Nova Won its First Car Show after the LS1 swap had a Lot of people looking at the car and talking about the motor was as happy as a Dad with a New Born Baby

One of the Judges told me if i would have had the in side of my car redone it would have Won Best of Show so now i guess its time to spend some money on the in side of the car.
