Default Fbody- V6 to LSx

Ok,

i have never posted in this forum for my own use, and DID do a quick search, but anyways,

From what ive read over and over again, if you start with a V6 and try to purchase everything to convert to a V8 its stupid.

But, if one already had a motor and trans, and a v6 car, any idea what kind of cash id be looking to spend to convert her over??

obviously a wiring harness, gauges, k member, drive shaft and probably rear end, (considering a 9" already if i do this. a true ford 9")

anyway, whats your thoughts
??

Drive shaft 200 local
wiring harness????
guages?? used, junk yard maybe,

whats you guys think??

i have the oppurtunity to pick a 98 camaro with t tops for DIRT cheap, in IMMACULATE condition.

$200 is about double what an aluminum driveshaft goes for.
- I have one for sale with a 9" conversion u joint already on it.
Wiring harness $150-200
Gauges.... ~$50?
K member... ~$100
EBCM (if you want abs) ~$100?

Depending on what you can pick a car up for, I'd say if you scrounge for parts, you should be able to get it done for <$600, + the cost of the engine and trans and car

...IMO

Well first no need to buy gauges, you can make the stock cluster work fine. You should be able to find harness and stuff for round $100-150. Trans x-member will be like $30, I've seen K-members go for like $50. You use your stock radiator. Get a stock fuel pump from ls1 maybe another $50.

Sounds like im pretty far ahead with having and engine trans, fuel pumps, etc. Looks like ill need me a BMR (or comparable) k member though, cant have me a Another V8 without a turbo on it, lol

ill have to do some reading on that, as i dont know much on the Fbodies, lol.

You need the fuel lines too, V6 system is return...which might be beneficial if your running a turbo.

Why would you have to change them out? They are the same ID/OD as the LS1 cars. I'm running the factory V6 lines in my swap, and utilizing the return as well. Only thing is that the LS1's have the fuel pressure regulator in the fuel pump bucket. I had to add a fuel filter/regulator combo from a 99-02 C5 Vette to have some sort of pressure regulation. Of course, I was just being a cheap ***, and needed something quick to fix it. The right way to do it would be to add an aftermarket regulator up front, which I'll be doing over the winter. It's a really simple swap at the end of the day. However, I'd advise waiting for a 99+ car. The 98's are a bastard year with many single year only weirdness.
