I notice you are using a catch can with the LS6 valley cover. Do you have any oil in the catch can? I am running the newer version of LS6 valley cover and I was told not to worry about a catch can. Now I am wondering if they were right or if I should purchase one.

When the build first began, just like everyone else, I started gathering parts.
The (expensive) catch can came first, and the valley mod came later.
It was a matter of not knowing any better.
In theory, anyway, the can is mounted away from the block to help keep the can cooler, and consequently, to help condense any oil vapors which may find their way there.
The most oil I've found in the can was about 1/4", after a full season of driving. Oddly, after emptying the can, there hasn't been more than a couple of drops.
The heads & intake will be coming off, shortly, and I'll be able to give a more exact answer by the amount of oil, if any, in the intake ports.
So, to sum up, you prob won't need the can.

Very excellent build you have! I also like the clean, detailed blog.

Thanks Glenn for going through the trouble of filming the exhaust clip. I like the Magnaflows deep throaty sound. Now I have to choose between the race or the street version. HHmmmmmm how much do I like my neighbors? Thanks again and she sounds great!

Hey Glenn, great work on the car! I did not realize you had to do so much with the bearings etc.! I'm happy to see it all worked out. Now I hope you can get out and enjoy her this spring/summer. I'm hoping to get parts accumulated and put on the car this summer. Maybe even fire it up in fall:-) Anyway, you have been a great help and inspiration to keep plugging away at my build, thanks!! Oh, and I finally got that build thread going (see my sig). Talk to you soon!

Thanks.
It came from Speed Inc, a sponsor.
If you go to their site, you'll see a couple of 67-69 projects, using the same kit...comes with 4" pipes/clamps/rubber collars, filter.
I fabbed a metal support, which fits under the joint between the air filter & the first plastic pipe. The support is cut from a metal file folder that you find in a desk drawer. It is riveted to the fender, underneath.

Hey Daniel,

Great to hear from you!
Yes, I finally 'got my bearings'. It's been a blast, so far.
Recently, after changing the oil, I found some material in the oil filter.
I believe that the material could be left over from the previous carnage.
I'll be monitoring it, & hopefully, the engine will be ok until the end of the year, when the heads will be removed for porting.
What parts did you settle on to solve the engine mount issue?

Regards, Glenn
