Northstar V-8 Camaro info?
Does anyone know anymore about a 1994 LT1 Camaro that swapped in a '95 Northstar V-8?
I found this site.
http://www.hpsalvage.com/projects.htm
and these pics on the site.
I was wondering if he ever dyno'd the car or ran it at the dragstrip?

I don't have any more info on it , but I do like it. Its different which is good. I doubt it is a major powerhouse. I am sure he could get more out of it with an LT1, but I imagine he was shooting for originality.

what a waste, ls1 is waaaaaaaaaay better.
northstars leak a $hitload of oil from the crank-halves/oil pan, head gaskets leak coolant like a siv, and performance parts are not as readily available.
i wonder what he did for a water pump and coolant crossover, cant see in the pics. what a PITA in RWD format.

Wow, blast from the past! Pro Stock John is right, thats me!
Thats my camaro! I was just researching some northstar info and this came up in the threads. Well, sorry I never responded, I was overseas in iraq at the time I believe.
Anyways, no I never dynoed the car. I wish I did! But I kept blowing up the transmission. Had a V6 700R4 behind it, suppose to have been built but I guess I got ripped off. The car just had the intake, headers, exhaust and 3000 stall at the time and it kept up with a slightly modified 2001 vette. That was the only power output I was able to really get for the car. The car sounded like an exotic, exhaust note was so clean. I got compliments on it all the time.
I have a LS1 in the car right now, but still have the stuff for the Northstar. Im thinking of putting it in a firebird next maybe. Dunno, whatever the cheapest body I find next
As for the coolant, we ran a custom cross over in the rear using aluminum blocks milled out for the coolant. And it used an electric water pump, pretty slick setup.
I had big plans for it, but waiting to find a tranmission that will work for the setup. A V6 700R4 or a 5speed(93+) will bolt up. I would like to try and find a way for a Th400 to bolt up. Wondering if the 5speed will hold? If anyone has inputs about a 5speed power potential that would be great.
Thanks guys!
Casey

Oh btw, it wasnt an LT1 camaro, it was a V6 to begin with. Forgot to mention that, just saw that FAST LS1 thought it was a LT1 at first.
Thanks D Rock, I miss it a lot, esp the exhaust. I will keep everyone updated when I take it on again. Right now the supra has me by my jewels.

that car would turn sick RPMs, be AMAZING on the road course (with a 6 speed) be diffrent, sound amazing, and now they have roots charged ones making 440 hp from the factory. pulley change and some good headers and we are talking about 500 crank hp..
personaly i love it

There have got to be some Northstar based engines out there making some pretty decent power because i am almost positive i have seen more than one high performance dune buggy running a Northstar seems like one of them was even supercharged.
