I took the car to get tuned yesterday. having issues with it running hot.... I am currently using a 2003 cobra radiator but the motor stil gets up around 210 when driving it. How much radiator cap do i need? it is constantly blowing water into the overflow. I put a 16lb cap on it and tried it with and without a t-stat.

We were getting closer with the tune, just driving it down the road and nailing it.... this bitch pulls like crazy!!! then it blew through the clutches in high gear of my glide. I left it with the tuner to go through the trans and replace the gear. the tune should be right when i get it back.

im also going to E85 in favor of the $$$$$$$ vs 110. Hope it will keep my coolant temps in check also. This thing is going to fly when i get it back. I was really hoping to have it at the track this weekend, but i have learned with this car that the weak links really become apparent and typically cost me a good chunk of change.

couple of pics from the tuners shop:

I doubt the e85 is going to get the coolant temps fixed, you will need to get a better radiator/fan/shroud setup. This is why I have a 31x19 aftermarket aluminum radiator in both my cars, they stay extremely cool, I can stay sub 160 degrees in 95+ degree weather in the rx7.

I might need to just bite the bullet and get a big aftermarket mustang radiator. i was also thinking of adding a shelby GT500 heat exchanger into my heater lines. i figure the added coolant cant hurt even if it doesnt take much heat out..

BTW im coming for that *** skinnies. just wanted you to be the first to know. just need to get the tune straight and bugs worked out. nothing personal except that fucked up PM you sent me a few months back....... hopefullt you will take me seriously at some point!!!!

I have no idea WTF you are talking about as far as a PM, I've always been nice to people and offered help. I think you have me confused for someone else, I just looked and didn't see any pm's sent to you.

As far as coming for me, I assume the record, it should be easy to take down, I never leaned on the rx7 and only made a few passes. IF someone takes the record from me I'll throw the car back together with a stock motor before the big boy motor goes in and shove the record in the mid/low 8's so I'm not worried. Hopefully someone does take down the record so I can get motivated, should be interesting leaving harder on the transbrake(not footbrake like the record) and turned up another 150rwhp, plus less weight! ) Hell my 3700lb daily driver just went 6.5's in the 1/8th leaving stupid soft with a junkyard 5.3.

its no big deal man, i just read it again and i made it out ti be more than it was. i do think i can run quicker than 8.98 with a completely stock 6.0 on boost. i know the full weight guys hate bc their stuff isnt light, but at least this way we both have real competition apples 2 apples. the fairmont is sweet man.

Cool build, 8's shouldn't be an issue with a little larger turbo. A larger radiator and heat exchanger should help with temps. What intercooler are you running? 31x12x4 behind the front bumper opening?

i think my issue with the temps has to do with the placement of my radiator cap. im gonna move it to a remote surge tank and see if that helps. im also debating if it could be a head gasket issue still. im not sure on the measurements on the intercooler, but its pretty big. its an international from a big truck. rated at 900+ hp. the turbo should support 1000hp from what im told.

i changed it to an 03 cobra radiator. i think my cooling issues are coming from the placement f my rad cap.

2400lbs nice, that is 200lbs less than my car, plus the glide robbing less power, should smash my record, looks like I'll have to throw the car back together this fall for some fun.

It was 2400 with an iron headed sbc (406). also had crash bumpers, sunroof & other stuff that has since been removed. with the added weight of the turbo stuff it should still be in the ball park.
