Default LS1 Fox body swappers, tech question for you.

I've done some searching and found a bit of info here and there, but it was a lot of speculative answers to the same question more or less.

I'm looking from input from people who have experience first hand with using a GM F body or GTO power steering pump on a Fox body rack.
What was your experience with it? Any issues? How long has your set up been together and how's the steering feel? If you did you something to lower the output of the higher pressure GM pump, what did you use and have a part number or recommended vendor?

Thanks guys!

There are a few threads talking about how to lower the pressure for the fox racks. I went manual steering so I can't really help you any more but I have seen it discussed a lot.

Default gm power steering pump/mustang rack

You do have to change the output of the pump otherwise the steering is very "twitchy", what I did with mine was get a whole new pump from borgsen
which has a different spring and valve installed to solve the problem. I believe you can buy just the spring and valve to replace the one in your pump, I bought a whole new pump because the one I had was a very high milage one and I wanted something that I knew wasnt going to go bad in a few miles.

I'm using this valve on my swap (T-Bird rack). It screws into the pump where the original HP outlet line goes, then the line screws into the fitting.

Ok, thanks for the input guys.
I even searched speedways site since they're local here, and couldn't find a thing on their site. I've noticed their search engine leaves quite a lot to be desired.
When I clicked that link, it also showed some pre-made lines for the swap. I assume I'd have to use those in conjunction with the adapter? Also, I'm curious if the GM ends of those lines they sell fit LS1 F body pumps or older GM pumps only.

Does that fitting allow you to thread the ford line into the GM pump?

Default GM pump to Mustang rack

Take a look here...
http://www.borgeson.com/xcart/produc...&cat=84&page=1 what I did was buy AN fittings for the rack and I took the original hose end from the GM pump and had a new hose made locally using that end and an AN fitting on the other end to match the rack fitting, you have to use high pressure hose for the output from the pump so youre better off having it made by the pro's its not that expensive. I used the local Aeroquip shop.
Good luck.

It takes the factory GM 16mm O-Ring hard line. I used an Earl's adapter to get to a -6 AN line.
