With the car being lighter than an regular fbody, I'd think you'd need a higher stall either way, and have you tried flashing it at all or are you just footbraking it?

Well, I made it to the track tonight, and pretty much nailed the prediction!

Ran 12.81@108mph. Not to shabby for this "little" motor!

This is how I will leave the car until the turbo gets put on this winter!

The picture with the fuel cell, someone mention the cell being in backwards. In the picture it looks like it is right. The outlet/inlet should be facing the back of the car.

There was a picture of the rear end early in the thread that had the Fuel Cell in backwards when I was making the mounting straps for it, that's what they were referring to, and for now I am just using a walbro 255, I will add a second one this winter when I get the turbo on.

I plan to switch to E85, so I will pretty much need most of the two pumps, seems the commonplace for maxing out one pump is around 400-450whp

Thanks for the response!

I never realized you lived in the QCA until I saw the Cordova Drag slips...

What city do you live in? I used to live in Rock Island for school.

Pure comedy.
How does it idle with the LS6 cam? I would assume it's slightly choppier than a 5.7 but it didn't sound bad.

Idles like stock, 750rpm. Feels a little more sluggish off the line but feels stronger 3Krpm and up....

Just a quick update: Purchased a Bosch 044 Pump to parallel my Walbro 255. Also picked up a MasterPower T70. Not sure if this will get me the power I want, but it will be close with E85 and the added timing....

Also I assume my WTA intercooler will be shipping today, so now it's just Wastegate, BOV, and all the little things....

Update: Got the turbo, got the Bosch 044, and now also have a WTA intercooler. Also I chopped up some exhaust sections and my buddy welded them to form the up pipe, which I will be working on more tonight. Once the flange is on I will make a brace plate to help hold the turbo up.

Pics:

As soon as I get the flange tack welded to the piping and get the tube to match the rec port of the flange, I will post a pic or two of the turbo sitting in the engine bay. A real benefit to having the water to air intercooler is I will have less than 40" of intake piping! That should reduce spool time by a few hundred rpm....

Thanks again for looking

Wow, your running 12.8's in a 3200lb car with a pretty much stock 4.8 with a ls6 cam and ls1 intake manifold ! I can just imagine what I'll be running since I'm doing the same engine build for my 74' 260z, it only weighs 2600lb(2845lb with me in it for right now).

I'm trying to decide whether I want a t70 or t76. I plan on 65-72lb injectors but I'd like to run one pump that can handle what I need to make my hp goal(550-650). I'll be buying my ARP rod bolts by the end of next week. I don't know if its necessary to buy them for the main caps too but I'm kinda thinking about it. I already have my LS6 cam(2004). I was also thinking about using a LS6 Intake manifold too but LS1's are easy and cheap to come by, beside I can change it later.

You have a nice build going on ! I will following your progress since your much further than me. I still have plenty on pars to buy still.

You want the LS6 mani, it flows much better than the LS1. As far as a Pump, You will probably need an Aeromotive A1000 or something of that size, I think a Bosch 044 will be a little shy of your target numbers. As for the turbo, I plan to see over 600whp on the MPT70, as many already have, but if you want a little in reserve the 76mm are pretty much the same price.... Used at least.

Here is another quick update. My buddy stopped over yesterday and we put the flange on the pipe, I do have some grinding to do to better match the pipe to the flange, but that is just a dremel away. I will also be relocating the coils, because my exhaust will be right in the path of the current wires.

I also cut some of the sheet metal way in front of the passenger tire well, as that will be where the water to air will be. I still have some more trimming to do here. The WAI will sit a little higher than it is in the pics, but you get the Idea. I plan to run the cooling water like this: Tank>Pump>WAI>Heat exchanger 1>Heat exchanger 2>Tank... There will be quick disconnects before heat exchanger 1 and also after heat exchanger 2, and I will run a bypass hose so I can run an Ice Bath on race days, which will just be: Tank> Pump>WAI>Tank

Here are a couple pics.

Thanks for lookin,

John

Lol, that does seem to be the trend!

Minor update, no pics, but I now have everything I need to get the turbo on and tuned. My 80lb injectors are on their way and were the last piece to this sweet puzzle!

Subscribed.... Good read and good build thread.

The people who comment on the backwards cell without reading the thread were cracking me up.
