Shift Cable too short??

Shift Cable too short??

Guys doing a Mid-engine project with a Gm LS engine and Audi 5-speed automatic. To make sure the shifting works like it should I have planned just to use the Audi automatic shifter, but the shift cable is way to short to use since its in the rear of the car. Don't know a lot about shifter cables, or if they are specific for each vehicle?

What should I do?

They are usually specific to the car, but theres no reason you can`t modify the shifter/brackets to let a universal one bolt in. Hit up B&M or even an industrial supply house and you should be able to find one that you can make work.

You can order custom push-pull cables from McMaster-Carr. The source I prefer however, is Control Cables Inc. Knowlegeable, and a CC by phone and they'll ship. Though I doubt either of these sources will have Audi specific bulkheads, some minor adapting should be pretty straight forward. I've done several cable shifter adaptations, so let me know what specific question you have. I'm currently doing a mid-engined LS1/Audi 6 speed conversion.

Thanks guys, the cable I have is about 17inches long, needs to be atleast 2x that, so I'll look into these options.
Anydy what bellhousing you using? Since my setup uses an automatic trans (same bellhousing as manual) I think I am just going to make my own. I'll have the trans shortly.
