Default PRO STREET TURBO LSX RX-7 AKA "The Dirty Ol Bastard"

Hello. It all started 2 years ago as a 1986 sport limited rolling chassis. I was going to do the usual ls 6speed swap and paint it with nice wheels. Here is a brief history of the progress lol.

I did some stuff under the hood, cleaned it and painted engine bay. Then well, got tired of workin on it under a tree at my parents house and gave up. I bought a C5 corvette and built that with a lq9 and rear mount turbo. One day coming home from work I got hit and wrecked it. Then bought a C6 which i recently sold.

I recently bought a house with a shop and moved the rx7 to its new home.

And that is where the rx7 came back to the front burner.

I will post all the pics i have.

engine bay looked like a barrel of crude oil blew up under the hood. took me days to get it clean.

i then painted everything

thats about as far as i got at that time. now 2 years later, buy a house and start again. the car is totally gutted now. no wiring. and you will see from the pics what work has gone into it.

the tire in the pics is a 30x9.0 i used just to see what clearance i will have. but i plan on a 30x15 or so.

i came across a stupid killer deal on a narrowed ford 9" with 4-link setup, koni coil overs, disk brakes, 3.90 gears and locker. came out of a s10. narrowed to 44.5".

the planned motor setup is a lq9 with big turbo, e85 and cab mounted air/water intercooler. shooting for 800rwhp.

fun fact. with the front tires on the ground, and the car supported by the stands, placed as the are in the picture. i can pick the rear of the car up off the jack stands with it sitting on the front tires.............with one hand. yes.. very light

i stood back an thought, not bad. drank on my shiner and said, screw this imma do more....

ok, so i kicked back and drank a lil more shiner and said. not bad. but wait i still got daylight. lets cut some more and start the framework.

Way to be obvious. Lol. Was just saying. That was with the frame in. Saving for tube bender so i can do cage. It will be after I finish with the turbo ws6 before I mess with this car anymore.

I'm shooting for 23-2400 lbs race weight

Nice car.

I met a guy at the Chrysler Classic at Norwalk Raceway Park(Summit) who had taken an Eagle Talon built a tube frame and swapped in a 383 BB Mopar.

His wife drove it and she started by running 13's on the motor then they reached the low 12's last time I saw 'em.

I think 'Ya will surpass 11's right off the bat you should run low 10'-Mid 9's.

Good luck.

Wow...not much left of that sucker.

A number of FC RX-7's (which this car is) have run some mid 9's with factory IRS out back and factory stock Turbo 2 differential. SBC with nitrous and a 4spd automatic. Eventually the rears get chewed up. Very aerodynamic car that is for sure.

Looks like a crazy project! Can't wait to watch the progress.
