Default Throttle Body Difference; What Year?

What are the year or application differences for these two throttle bodies? The "long arm" one looks like my 2001 Camaro LS1. What is the "short arm" version from, and can I use it on my '01 LS1?

I was unaware there were two different ones until I saw them on this site: http://www.nookandtranny.com/Info_LSx.html
I need to shorten the pull on my cable as I cannot modify my throttle pedal any more than I already have.

Thanks,

Andy1

Could the "short arm" throttle body possibly be from and early LSx truck?
Anyone?

I believe the 98-99 throttle bodies and the truck throttle bodies had the "short arm" and the 00-02 ls1's had the "long arm". The bigger arm uses a longer cable.

+1 on the 98-99 TB having short/small Cam on the Throttle.

bigmandengo,

Thanks for the tip. I looked up the 98-99, and it indeed appears to use the smaller arm, as does the 99-02 truck. Do you know if the 98-99 trottle body has the same diameter as the 01 LS1, and is it compatible with the TPS? I of course don't want to go smaller than the LS1.

Perhaps if someone has a junk throttle body with a the small arm, maybe I could remove the arm and retrofit it to my current throttle body.

Thanks,
Andy1

the throttlebodies are the same diameter between 98-02 on the f-cars, and interchange, if you swap cables.

Thanks Ryan. If they are indeed 100% compatible, then finding a good used 98-99 throttle body will resolve my issue. I have a Terry Cable (cable) with an adjustable cable anchor, so no problem there. Guess I better keep my eyes on the classified section.

Great tip! So that would be a 99-02 truck TB and has the small throttle cam, correct? Size wise and bolt pattern wise it's the same as the f body, and all the sensors are compatible?

There's a big truck salvage yard about 1 1/2 hrs from me, but it hardly seems worth the drive for a $25 part.

those trucks are all over now, remember full size vans, trucks and a lot of suvs have the throttle body you are looking for. and while your out looking grab some "heat sink" coils on the cheap and sell them on here to make a dime and pay for your throttle body...lol

I am using an 80mm BBK throttle body for a custom build I am doing (not LS1 related) and the TB I got has the "short" arm and I need one with the longer arm. Does anyone know where I can find one, or be willing to trade me? Also, will a stock arm fit on my BBK TB?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but why did GM decide to go with the longer arm throttle body setup? I was reading a thread about the various differences between the years, and saw that the late model LS1 cars had the "throttle body cam increased in size to slow the speed at which the car reaches WOT"

Why would they purposely want to increase lag on the engine? What is the reasoning for this change?
