Default New to the LS world and intimidated...

I have a 70 C10 that I am building. I bought an 06 Van with an LQ4 in it and am planning on putting the drivetrain into my C10. However, I am completely lost as far as what wiring needs to be kept, what can be scrapped, what kind of gauges to run, etc. I really want to run the fuel injection setup but am wondering if I should just go carbed for simplicity of the swap. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

What you can keep and get rid of depends on your situation. lt1swap.com has a lot of good information. Start there and get familiar with as much as you can and then come back with questions that you may have.

I have a 68 C-10 that we put an 04 LQ4 in last spring. I used a PSI harness, , and a 4l65e. To put it simply, i reused the 250 pedestals and used a prothane version of the original mount. It sits the motor very far back, about .5 inch from the firewall. I kept the stock radiator, and used silverado hoses. I shortened the stock driveshaft, and put a plastic tank and pump from an 02 camaro SS between the frame rails where the spare tire used to be.

It is about as inexpensive as you can get.

You can spend as much money or as little as you want with these things, that's the beauty!

My opinion, carbing the thing would be a travesty given how sweet they run with the EFI..

Don't be scared. The wiring is the easiest part of the swap.

Spend about two weeks just reading about others swaps and getting your knowledge up I did the stand along harness on my k5 5.3 swap with the info from lt1swap.com. Once you get into it it's alot easier than it seams just reading about it.

keep the entire engine harness, if you want to you can keep it really easy and use the entire harness and fuse block and then you only need to run 3 wires to it and then whatever you need for gauges

It's much harder to figure out the rest of the puzzle IMHO. Hoses etc.... The wiring should not even be in the equation when trying to decide between carb or EFI. When you get into there is really not that much to it.
