Looking for a Motor swap soon ok guys i dont know if this is the right place or not, My cars getting up there in miles sooo i was thinking of giving the bird a new stronger heart soon. I was thinking maybe an LS6 swap or an Lq4 or lq9 swap. what are yalls opinions on this and pros and cons on either or. if i did swap anything i would def go to like lkq and pick up a motor and build the motor i want with heads n cam n new goodies.
I say do it.. Can't suggest or recommend anything yet. You 1st have to state your goals..?.. HP, type of ride (racing, drag, Auto-x, street, touring), forced induction, etc ?
Anything is possible. Just research what your going to do with the car and start from there...
Yeah. you already have a Gen III engine and car.. so.. might try posting in the Gen III or IV internal section.. This forum is more for swapping into non-Gen III/IV cars, but we well help out if we can..

Whats your goals and budget? But for **** and giggles I'd say start off with a LQ4 or LQ9 engine, bore it 30 over, throw in a Lunati 4.250" crank, and that will yield you a 434ci LSx engine. Some LS3 heads and intake, 230+ duration, 600+ lift cam on a 111 lsa should make for an entertaining ride.

ok thanks for the help lol i didnt know where to post it, and yeah im not looking for a highcrazy HP level maybe around 400 but yeah ill post in there n see waht i get, i just wanted to know what will i use on the lq4 or 9 not ls1 heads or intake i saw somewhere they used ls3 parts. i also have bbk headers on there already will they fit those heads?

He doesn't even need to spend the money on an ls1 for 400hp.
Many 5.3ls come with ls6 heads on them so he could pick up a complete engine for ~500 put a car intake, headers and a cam in it and be at 400 of well mannered streetable HP.

Most Gen III and IV engine can produce 400 RWHP with simple Cam, Headers and tunning. Buy a LQ9 and your at 385 already. Add some good heads L92, LS3, or after market and your in the 500+ with the good tune.
Suggest you do some more Research on what these Gen III/IV engine can do.. 400 is just a cam and bolt on now adays ! LOL....
