4L80 behind sbc in 66 Chevelle?
Ordered the Stage II 4L80 with transbrake from Jakes's Performance. Also did the search on the Team Chevelle site and i still don't know the whole story. Anyone recently installed a 4L80 in a 66 Chevelle? There's not much new info over at TC. It will be bolted to a Dart block sbc 406. I ordered the old style with easier access cooler line. I also understand that I will need to move the crossmember back. Will the 4L80 convertor bolt to old sbc flywheel? How much trans. tunnel massaging is needed? Will I need new driveshaft yoke or will th350 yoke work? I will probably need to get driveshaft shortened. What kind of shift cable to use? Lokar? More questions to come as I get started. Thanks in advance.

T400 yoke, should have got it from Jake....
depends on flex plate for converter to bolt up.
big pattern needs minor slotting.
Just order converter with stock early big pattern.
I picked CircleD for my ~600hp all motor build. money well spent over shelf converter......
cable doesn't matter - bracket and shifter does
Jake knows all this stuff.
I hope Jake see's all this plugging for him..... I need to order my TB still.

Thanks Turbo!! I'll have to talk to Jake about that stuff before he ships it. I have a B&M street bandit shifter. I was curious about the actual mounting bracket to trans. for cable.

Sweet performance makes adaptor fittings to go from the tranny to -6 an or -8 an . They didnt have them when I did mine so I had to make my own.I also used a B&M shift cable. JOHN

Ok, so I have it in but am having issues with fitment. The old Energy Suspension trans. mount is way too thick to fit between the trans. and crossmember. I have a crossmember from www.crossmembers.com Anyone know of a thinner trans mount I could use?

I've been reading John 67 thread on here, he has a 67 Chevelle with LS2 and 4L80. He made his own crossember. Where I have this monster http://www.crossmembers.com/shop/pro...products_id=75 to deal with.

The trans is hitting in the back of the tunnel, beacuse the Energy Suspension mount is too thick, about 2 3/4". Which is the same one I used for the TH350 that was in the car. Either I will have to fab up a new crossemember or find a thinner trans. mount. Also, going to have to dent the floorboard in order to thread the 45* swivel Earls cooler line fitting on.

couldnt you weld a perch lower on that crossmember to allow room for the thick mount ? you can slide that crossmember foward or back, correct ? also watch on the drivers side where the electrical plugs go into the trans - one of mine was hitting the body and started to leak fluid , just pushed up the tunnel in that area . the cooling lines are a pain !!! Trans rubber mount heights
The stock 4L80 truck mount is supposed to be around 2.2 inches tall and less.
There are at least 3 of them from a Q&A in one of the mags last few months that I've read. About 1.9-2.2 tall.
The 80 will take any 350/700 style mount. Same bolt spacing.
Edit: from August 2011 Hot Rod Pit Stop section
22188145- 85' 700 1.930" yellow stripe
15788797- 06/07 60E 2.2 yellow green stripe
15820075- 05' 6.0/80E 2.18 pink stripe

New custom crossmember fabbed up and custom tps bracket made. Driveshaft shortened. Trans lines hooked up and all electronics in. Ordered new B&M Magnum prostick because the Street Bandit wont work. Hopefully drive it in a few days. Wow, this is an old thread.
