I think it's pretty much engine mounts and a crossmember. Then the hole for the shifter to pop through. you may need to watch out for some clearance issues with accessories, and suspension/steering, but it can be done.

Go to the Hybrid forum. I think there are some people that have already swapped an LS1 into that body style.

I think $7500 sounds like too much $$$ for the drivetrain.. is it brand new??? I paid $2800 for my 20k miles motor AND trans..

Ha!.. i did the math wrong.. Canadian $$ = LESS US $$.. not more.. in that case it seems like a decent price.. how many miles on the motor? has all the accessories?

Ive seen an install in a chevelle.. it was in a recent magazine but I cant seem to recall which one.

Those TPI motors definitely run out of steam after 5k.... I've logged quite a few laps at Watkins Glen in a '91 Corvette and running down the back stretch, the car was definitely running out of power before 5500rpm. I could only manage to top out at ~123mph where the LT1 and LS1 guys were getting closer to 140-150!! Down low they do make some nice torque though!! Coming out of the corners, I could pull on just about anything short of a 427 Cobra.

Just something to think about... my 2 cents.

ya but i live in canada there are no real race tracks around exp.. for mission race way. Mainly i want the car for an everday driver but i want to be able to go to the track and have a great time i want to be in the low 13 sec. Man its funny in Vancouver B.C. Richmond and vancouver is Import city the surrey is mustangers and the chilliwack is good old time old scholl v8's ferther you go away from the city the bigger the displacement. As soon as one type goes in to the others area they want to race. hopfuly they will see my car and think again. If you have any advice on building a tpi its going to be hooker up to a t56 and 4.11 or 4.56 rear gears and the car weighs about 3400-3600 lbs.thanx I was told by a few ppl that the numbers i got for the motor will never happen. And do you know what the stock cfm of the tpi and how much power that block can take ( witch tpi is the best year to get )

The original TPI was designed around a 5.0 liter.
You will want to upgrade runners and base, port the plenum and get a 52mm TB.
I'd go with SLPs siamesed runners and get some top end back. 20" is a bit long for a runner.
You will be shifting like a semi driver with a TPIs torque band with a t56+4.56. I'd go with a 3.73.

Take a look at www.hotrodlane.cc, they put an ls1 into a 70 chevelle and should be about the same.
