Default stingray ls1 harness question

So as some my know im doing an ls1 swap in my 74 vette. Its been a almost a year and ive come down to doing the wireing harness. I got a 5.3 truck harness but after putting that on i realize it super messy and i have a lot of extra plugs. what do you guys who have done the swap thing about a ebay harness? i was looking at this one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123

theres also another guy on ebay that will charge 325 to take my old harness to change it. to what the above seller is doing.

what would be my best route? anyone know a cheaper solution?

you can use an f body harness--they need only a few of the pink wires hooked up to power and the car will run---it's super simple to figure out--

the guy on ebay for $325...sounds like the route I took. I don't have my car fired up yet, but it's close. the guy I used charged me $325 to rework the harness, added 4 relays for fans, fuel pump and Ign. for the money I like it, pretty quick turn around responded to emails in less than 24 hours, assuming it works when I go to fire the engine I think it was a good deal. But the next swap I do I will try my hand at reworking my own!!

EDIT: and he removed vats and emission stuff from the ECM for me as well

The 5.3 harness will work just fine. I'm using on for my swap. All you have to do do is go through the PCM and remove what you won't use. The rest will be just removing connectors and adding power to pink and orange wires. Then just running gauges.

Where are you planning on putting the PCM and fuses?

You have to go to the junkyard and grab some injector connectors off of a 96+ GM car. Then just solder them onto the 5.3 harness.

Are you running the LS1 style intake or the truck one?
If you're running the truck one, stick with the truck harness and rework it.
If you're running the LS1 intake, it might be less work to start with the F-body harness.
Since you're going to rework the harness anyway, you could start with the 98 one and repin it for the 99 -2002 style PCM

What are you using for a tranny?
Did you move the motor forward to give some clearance between the head and firewall?
I was tempted to do a Gen3 swap in to my 79, but decided it would be a lot less work to put a Gen 1 Ramjet motor in it

Seems like the 5.3 harness will do the trick. You'll have to go through the PCM and remove whatever you won't use. The rest will be just removing connectors and adding power to pink and orange wires, and of course running gauges.

You can use any PCM that can support drive by cable. If you are using the car injectors, you can update the truck tune. What MAF are you using? Car and Truck values are different.

You can find any 411 red/blue PCM and it will support either drive by cable or drive by wire.

I have schematics for both 02 ls1 and 03 5.3. Pm me your email and I will send them to you. I'm using the harness that came with my 4.8 (sam as 5.3 and 6.0) and mine works just fine, on the stand. Wasn't hard to rewire the harness.
