Awesome build! I had an 02' IS300 years ago. I always wanted to drop in a LS2 and make it an IS600. The car was fun, just needed more power! You are making me want to find another. Never enough time or $$ though. Enjoy it!

the car is alive and a lot of fun to drive. it is great to just roll into the throttle a little and have the car take off.

just did some gtechs. after several trys working down my 60' i was able to pull a 2.12 60'.

13.29 was my best run. thats with 2 people in the car, no tuning at all and on shitty tires.

seems like a great start and that et matches how it feels. i am rolling into it to get the best 60'. add in some dr's which i have on hand and high 12's seem very likely.

i will try and get some better video.

Nice build, I love the IS300's and the LS1 makes it an unreal package. Great job.

update.

got a trans cooler and wideband. been working on the tune a little and got some dr's on. ran a new best of 13.12(gtech) with 2 people in the car.

figured out a way to access the "performance" shift mode. now i have 2 transmission shift modes that are accessed by hitting the factory "trac off" button. even the dash light for trac off lights up when in the performance mode. in normal i have it skip 1st gear, makes it much nicer to roll around in. in performance it will goto 1st and hold each gear longer along with adjust the torque management. kinda neat to play with.

yesterday we hooked up the nitrous and put larger injectors in. it is a dry shot and i am tricking the ecm at the coolant temp sensor so that it adds more fuel and pulls timing. it is working great. i can pick my timing and fueling, i wonder why more people dont do it this way. only made one gtech pull with the nitrous. 75shot, 2 people in the car, 20mph turn on, no heater or gauge, turned off for a sec at the top of 1st, way rich(11.0/1). all that and it ran a 12.69.

seems like high 12's na are likely and lower 12's on just the 75shot. the car is a snagle of wires right now. i ordered a braille skinny battery, that should save me about 20lbs and will give me a spot to put the ecm. when it shows up i will start cleaning up the mess of wires that i have.

i have been driving the car every day.

haven't posted up much for pics lately because i was embarrassed with the wiring under the hood. i worked on all the mechanical stuff and just cheesed the wiring. here is a before pic. yes that is my pcm zip tied to the intake.

after a few nights of work i got a smaller battery installed and made room for the pcm over in the area the small battery free'd up. i have all the work done on the passenger side except i need to do something with the dipstick. on the driver side i still have to finish up. overall it is looking much better.

i put in a braille battery. it is something like 23lbs less weight than the full size one that was in there. starts the car just fine. not sure about winter but it lists it as a ~500cca battery.

i have 1200 miles on the swap so far. on my last tank of gas i got 18.2mpg. that is mixed driving with a number of wot runs. i am going to try turning on the lean cruise settings and bump the cruise a/f ratio into the upper 15's. also i plan on swapping the rear gears in the future from 390's to 330's but i am going to wait till i make more power before i do that. i think 20mpg mixed and 25+ down the highway are likely.

had some spare time today so i thought i would see if i could get more of the factory gauges to work.

on the tach i took the tach output wire from the gm computer to a wire that used to leave the toyota computer and was labeled tach. bam, tach works even without the toyota computer plugged in. it was reading 1/3 low. hp tuners has the ability to change the output on the gm computer. once i adjusted that now i have a working accurate tach.

next was the coolant temp sensor. i was able to plug the 2 plugs from the body to the toyota computer. then plug in the 3 plugs that used to goto the engine but are now just 6" long tails. i grounded some of those pins that the diagram showed as grounded. then grounded the input for the coolant temp sensor. sensor pegged hot. looks like all i need to do is get a toyota sensor and plumb that in and then run that wire to it. well that and figure out a place to hide the factory computer.

right now the only thing the factory ecm will be doing is making that coolant temp sensor work. i can see my temp on the laptop if i am logging but i only log when i am tuning or at the track. i think a coolant temp gauge is fairly important so i am going to find a place to hide that factory computer.

last thing i might do is the oil pressure. i can get the light on the dash to go on and off by grounding the input to the toyota computer. gm ran a gauge not a light so the gm sensor is not a short to ground. i can get that light to work if i want to plumb in a low oil pressure switch.

i picked up a 2nd set of stock wheels and they happened to have one pair of good tires. light night i killed the tires. the car does great cookies

http://neufamily.org/images/is300fil...ux%2011.22.wmv

got some new bests. i swapped transmissions and converters with a friend of mine who is selling his car. now i have a performabuilt level 2 4l60e and a fti~3200rpm converter. i also got some larger tires on there. 255/50/16 mt dr's.

first run i got a 12.67@107 with a 1.77 60'. stock ls1, no headers, full exhaust. this was the only na run i made. 30mph head wind and about 80deg out.

next run was a 100shot right off the line. 11.29@117 with a 1.56 60'. they told me to slow it down.

next run was a 125shot right off the line. 11.22@120 with a 1.55 60'. they nicely told me i was done for the day and i needed to get a roll bar.

plan is to boost it but that wont be for awhile. short term plans include getting a matching set of rims where i can run the 255/50/16 tires all the time and maybe a mild cam. thinking th rpf1 wheels, drop some weight and look cool.

oh yeah, stock irs, driveshaft, axles, and lexus fuel pump.

i have been messing with the car a little. put a mild cam in there and went to the dyno. dynojet.

got 340rwhp na and 440rwhp with a 125shot. then switched to e85 and gain 7rwhp to both numbers. then up the jet to a ~190shot and got 504rwhp. never ran it on the street or track with the 190jet.

shortly after that i picked up a cheap china made turbo. $318 shipped from shanghi. since i was doing it wrong with the china turbo i figured i would just do it all wrong and put it in the back.

got that mostly finished up tonight and took it out for a spin.

**** yeah. this thing pulls hard. keep in mind i haven't been in anything fast for awhile...

it is a little slow to boost from a stop but with street tires i am not able to do any brake boosting without the tires spining.

from a roll is crazy. i can do a rolling brake boost and get as much boost as i want. i let it goto 3-4psi and when i mash it it is like a hammer hitting and it instantly jumps another 5psi. it must have 8psi in the charge pipe and all i do is crack the throttle and bam it hit. we tuned it up to 10psi and it is pulling way harder than it did with a 125shot. i never ran it with any more spray than that.

turbo leaked oil till i got on it hard once. then it mostly dried up but there is an oil residue on my bumper so it must be letting a little oil past at some point.

there appears to be no loss of off idle power at all from it being a rear mount. car is just as much fun to drive as before. i really am impressed. i have some loose ends to take care of but i should have some track times and dyno numbers soon. car sounds great. quieter than before. before was 2 strait thru magnaflows. now it is one pre turbo magnaflow and the turbo. you can't hear the wg open.
