Default CJ7/TJ Hybrid Jeep

So I've been working on this for a few months. I just had the engine shipped to me, so I'll move from lurker status.

Jeep CJ7 Body.
Throttle Down Kustoms Hybrid CJ7 Frame (CJ7 frame with TJ suspension)
(going with stock axles now. Seeing how it goes before I upgrade the d35)

I have a 2005 LH6 Gen IV Engine(From a Saab 9-7X) that is coming on wednesday. Will include everything (pedal, harness, etc), but the ECU was gone already.

np231c transfer case. <- and here lies my problem.

I am going to get a 4L60E, but the 98+ 4x4 tailshaft doesn't work with my 91 np231c so I believe I need a pre-98 4L60e

I have 1 problem with the drivetrain.
Can I use a pre-98 4L60E with the Gen IV ECU? If I cant, I will have to go with an expensive adapter to a wrangler transfer case.

Any help would be appreciated. I will keep the thread going and add some pics.

Get a NP231C case from an early 90's S10 Blazer or Pickup and make a hybrid case. Then make sure you get the adapter (between the t-case and trans) from a later model S10 (with an NP233) that has the 6 bolt pattern on the trans end.

Here's my build thread where I did just that.

Thanks. I will read thru ur thread.

That seems like a good plan. I have a np231c transfer case and I am picking up a 231j with a SYE this weekend. I've seen the 6-bolt adapters on ebay so thats great.

Engine has arrived. Pulled off the harness, the Saab 9-7x engine mounts, and headers. Also removed the oil pan. It has the Saab all wheel drive oil pan with the weird hole in the middle. See pic. Attached a few other pics.

Before I forget....

When you get your engine mounts note that the Advance Adapter mounts will not let you place the engine off center to the right. They will only center the motor in your frame.

If an offset is critical to you then I think you need the Novak Mounts.

FWIW, my engine is centered and everything fit just fine. Also I've now driven my rig on the freeway and no "death wobble" from the stock length driveshafts.

I will probably have to go with custom mounts. I am going to test fit the egine with a 700r4 that I have sitting around. The upper control arm mount may be a severe impediment to a "out-of-the box" engine mount. I have 2 different sets of mounts, so we will see whats will work. btw, What lift do you have on yours and what angle did you set the engine?
