Default Can't get oil filter to screw into my new pan

I had to buy a Camaro LS1 oil pan to go on my engine as the LS1 wouldn't fit into the Corvette with the original GTO oil pan. Now when I tried to screw in the oil filter it just starts to engage some thread and then pops off. I have tried several different brands of filter now and still have no luck. I initially tried the original filter from the Holden Commodore (GTO) on it and then when that didn't work just assumed that Americans must use different thread filters (I know sounds stupid but at the time was the only explanation). I then ordered some filters for the LS1 Camaro from America and tried two of them but again had no luck.

Any thoughts on this?

Its a brand new pan, it's never been used. I will try and get a photo of the threads tonight.

There are different thread sizes, depending on the pan application....
Check the part numbers on truck, Vette and Camaro, GTO filters..Some have the thread size stamped on the top.

Use an ac delco pf48. The new pans use the gen4 filters.

We ran into this when we bought a new LS1 pan to use on a 5.3 because the truck pan hung down too low. We just unscrewed the piece (don't know what It's called) that the filter actually threads onto from the earlier truck pan...screwed it into the new pan and good to go. I would assume you could buy it at a dealer or find a used one. Ron

i had the same issues with my new pan, try 07 or newer truck filter.
Worked for me.
you could always unscrew the adapter and thread in your old one.

I tried using an AC Delco PF46E. Should this work?

So what you guys are saying is that the replacement LS1 pan actually uses a GEN4 oil filter?

All the new pans I've received used a 22mm metric oil filter like the Gen IV engines while the Gen III engines use a standard threaded filter and filter adapter. I have cars with both so I have to stock both filters but the adapter is simple enough to change.
