ts84rx7: I know another guy using the respeed crossmember in his 79, how far along are you with mounts and header fitment?

badboyz31: I am using Hooker LS conversion mount plates and SBC solid brackets.

The B2200 is what inspired me for this. It's my friends that I helped with a lot. Originally it got a Chevy 350 and TH350 swap. The engine was quiet used and has just been pulled for a fresh 327 was a moderate cam and some nice aluminum heads. It dynoed 160 HP 179 trq, and still pulled a 15 second 1/4 on a 100* 100% humidity day. Now it will have about 400 HP to the crank, gonna be Evan more fun! Plus he needs to weld the spiders or buy a LSD. RX7 center sections swap in actually, but their ratios are to high for a 3 speed auto.

Update: I am all ready to fire it up but I need to reprogram the PCM. I still need a driveshaft and other Misc parts to take it for a drive.

The car is now parked for the winter, gonna start on it again next spring.

Default Any updates?

Any updates to this project?

I'm looking to do an L33/5300 vortech swap into an SA/FB myself.

310 hp/335 torque from what I could find, should be super fun!

It is still parked behind the garage with a tarp over it. I do have a pile of LS parts sitting here, and a Ford 8.8 Diff waiting to go in.

I am following. I've got a 79 sitting in the side yard that needs an engine.. Maybe once I finish my Nova.. I'll look into doing it.. but I would have to do a Calif Smog legal swap.. so, any hints on doing the Smog equipement on your RX would be helpfull. Maybe just get a eRod setup..

Smog legal would require running a sealed gas tank with an EVAP system, EGR, and CATs. I am doing none of these lol. I have not given much though of the EVAP system but it could be very possible to use the stock vent line from the tank to a purge valve, you would still need a pressure sensor in the tank for the leakdown tests. EGR would depend on if your donor engine had it, my LS3 manifolds don't have EGR provision thou. As for CATs, I am about to do my exhaust and get a good idea if there is room for them under there.

Well the car has been rolled back into the garage and I have made some big progress. Pulled off the truck w/p and crank pulley, along with the crappy fitting Headman headers. I am very happy that my sweet LS3 manifolds fit awesome! I am very proud of the clean-up and pain job on these.

This will move over a bunch when I center the engine

Its like they were made for this car!

I removed the subframe to fix my horrible engine mounts, new ones coming Monday. With that out of the way and the perfect new manifolds I can have the engine hanging in the center of the car! lol I was a whole inch off before. Here is the before shot of my very un-even engine mounts that have been cut off and ground smooth awaiting new mounts.

Now I have to wait for parts, and do little things all weekend.

I tore the weak SA Diff out this weekend and started preparing for the Explorer 8.8 3.73 Trac-Lok diff. Now I am waiting for parts to bolt it in.

Oh and here is the old diff sitting on my floor jack

Thumbs up

Anymore updates on this project? I'm currently in the middle of researching a 5.3 swap into an '88 FC Turbo II Rx7. Definitely bookmarking this link, swap looks really good so far!

I have not been on here in a while, but it is now up and running driving. Except that something happened to #8 rod bearing and journal. It was knocking at higher RPMs so I took the pan off and just slapped new bearings in it. Like putting a band-aid on a bullet hole. I did that just to get a few passes at the track before I had to take it all apart. I did get 2.5 passes! I would have had a high 12, low 13 second pass on my 2nd run, but my throttle cable stop fell off at the top end shifting gears. I had to coast all the way back to the pits at idle. 3rd pass I got a bad launch, revved it out in 3rd and she was a knocking bad, I shifted to 4th and coasted again for a 13.7

So now I have a L33 sitting in the garage getting a nice refresh job

Was looking through the build and noticed the MN license plate. Then I looked at your username. Good work jon. This thing will put the monte to shame. Hopefully I can get my LS swap started this winter for the wagon.
