You can also grab up an 0411 PCM while you're at it.

Does anyone have any info on making sure the Airbags are still functional after this kind of a swap?

I've heard it's rather difficult to keep them still working.

Merv can chime in here, but from what I understand the chassis wiring is untouched and remains functional. A/C and airbags are not in my build though.

None of the body wiring gets messed with..Airbags, Fuel Gauge, Electric Options, anything with the BCM remains as original, the only thing you mess with is the Engine Bay wiring.

13mm is a half inch, I dont see why stock studs wont work..

Thanks Merv.

Does this mean we don't have to change our Lt1 dashboard? and we can retain our airbags still in full function?

So the swap can be done but the bare necessity have to include the Kmember...engine/tranny....all LS1 accessories.....ls1 wiring harness and ls1 pcm?

Can anyone comment on it being easier or wiser to just convert a 98+ to a 93-97 front end? Sometimes this crosses my mind to do....as I think my back would thank me for it.....thats not to say I dont like my current Lt1 setup.

But changing the 2 fenders a hood and front face sounds easier....altho im sure the LS1 based crowd would find it pure blasphemy.

It would, providing you can find the bumper/fenders in good enough shape.

I converted my entire dash in my 95 to the LS style dash..Using the 95 LT body harness, allows everything to work minus the newer style gauge cluster..

You can use the LT dashboard and still keep everything in working order.. The PCM has to be changed on a few pinouts for the orginal harness.. There is several people i know that did it and could provide the instructions for you..

So the earlier face/hood/fenders do bolt right up?

The question is getting them in good shape...I think I could manage to get them each individually in good shape.....I just don't know about getting a combo from just one car......you think it matters? to get them from different cars?

I can shoot them with primer.

So we don't have to gut or tear into our current dashboard if we don't want to?

We only have to replace the engine wiring harness? It does not have to get spliced into the wiring that goes into the dash? All the splicing is done at PCM under hood...and wiring under hood?

The interior does NOT have to be dissambled?

What to do...what to do....i luv my car....but dont like breaking my back.

If I find an Ls1 car...it will likely be with high mileage and with a chassis that I dont know what it's been thru....engine will likely need a rebuild anyway.....an then to find one with T-tops and a manual does not look easy.

Or keep my own?......and try to score the engine/tranny.....maybe refresh it while I have it out...problem is you end up buying something that you did not hear running. Other problem is scoring the accessories...since LT1 accessories do not work....I hear thats where u get nickel and dimed to death.
Do 98+ v6 accessories work?

I'm pretty sure if you can convert to a 98+ front end on a 93-97 car, you should be able to go the other way if you find a decent donor.

V6 accessories don't work. F-body V8/ GTO accessories only. You can buy all the brackets for about $100 new. Alternators and power steering pumps are cheap at the junkyard.

Accessory Brackets:

12555693 - $13.99
12556915 - $23.99
12557331 - $24.99
12563327 - $29.99

Summit pricing.

The interior doesn't have to be touched.

Negative.. The only connections you have to worry about are under the passenger side dash. If i remember correctly the engine harness comes through the fire wall with a few connections which should connect with the new LS harness.. The big thing is some of the pinouts need to be changed where the engine harness and such plug to the PCM.. Dont qoute me on this but im pretty sure thats it.. There may be a few minor re-pins that im missing..
