Default Engine build

I bought a used lq4 out of a wrecked Silverado. Tore the engine down and sent block and crank to machine shop. Ordered some eagle rods and Srp pistons and had the factory crank and new rods/pistons balanced. Block cleaned and decked. Called Texas speed and spent a small fortune on a Turbo cam, springs, lifters, Ls2 timing gear set, ls9 headgaskets, Melling oil pump, and Trunion upgrade. Order a cracked F-body oil pan off of ebay, once it arrived i ground the crack down, broke out the ole miller and made the fix. Called Ws6 store and had them send me some arp main cap, cam and Head bolts. Found a John Leigntenfelter intake and throttle body on craigs list, bought that! Spent alot of money at autozone on chassis parts and well stalled out as I am a broke joke lol!!!!!

Engine assembled and I would just like to thank Ls1tech for all the useful information on here. Anything I needed to know I found on here!!

Default Under Carriage

Painted undercarriage!
Only problem is now I want to add to the subframe to make a full framed car so now I'll be cutting some floor pans to make room for the added frame. I plan to go between the floor boards and the rocker panels with the new frame from the subframe to the just in front of rear tires, then curve back in toward the driveshaft, then up around the axle and stopping just in front of the gas tank and bolt some of the old frame there to the full frame. It's hard to say without showing some homemade blue prints lol. I think that it would work.. Then doing a 4-link with a ford 9 and 3.50 gears!

I'll probably make tons of mistakes on the way but I'm determined to make it work!!

NM done bc of the holidays and the fact I work offshore. I spliced the Harness, added ev1 connectors and sumped my fuel tank. When I get home I have to pull the oil pan off and change springs in oil pump. I think my wife is getting the a1000 fuel pump for me for xmas so I'll probably put that in the tool box for things to install later lol.
Got a 4l80e tranny, but gonna wait to install until I can get a verter and transgo shift kit. I'm kinda stalled out bc its slowed down at work and I'm not spending money incase of layoffs.

I bought the head gaskets from Texas speed.. I just called them and with a big order so no part number.. The WS6 store supplied the head bolts. Those are the two main vendors I have bought from. Odds and end things on Ebay like the ev1 connectors they're Bosch.
I'm getting there though.. Hopefully I'll be able to start the engine by summer.. Fingers crossed on that front.
I see you have the 81, did you ever get the swap finished?

Looks like you are further along than me!! I'm in save the money to buy mode lol!! Sold my 78 T/A 4 days ago to further fund the 79. Should have a shift kit, fuel injectors, alum radiator, ecm and other parts ordered around the 7th. Then I'm getting the turbo and plumbing. And With income tax the Ford 9" housing and 4-link. Hopefully by March or April I'll be able to atleast hear it run. Then disassemble and prep for paint.

Mine is going blue as well. What color Interior are you going with? I have a new camel set but am not certain it will look good against blue.

Also getting the fenders flared to fit 335 in the rear.. Good luck with yours!!

I bought a 78 nose to put on mine too lol. Wish I could afford to do a 4 link. I'm doing a blck interior but I might get the race seats that are black with blue running down the middle. I'm also using a complete 2002 fbody wiring front to rear.

I'm going to remove leaf spring carriers and run square tubing from subframe to rear and build my own 4-link. I try to build things myself to save money. I'll build my own cross member for the trans as well. Its good to have a welder and tools though!

Good luck. All the 4-link kits I've seen involved using a smaller gas tank so they could mount the bars in closer to line up right

I think I'll be able to save the gas tank. Once I get the 9" rear I'll take measurements and see what I have to do. My brother thinks I should leave the leafs and add a ladder bar, but I'm going with some wide tires so I'm pretty sure I'll have to build a 4-link.

Thinking of using this front bumper http://www.americansportscar.com/pro...m-front-bumper
Also planning on taking off the heavy bumper underneath and building a lighter on out of an aluminum bumper I have from another newer car.
I'm ordering engine parts on the 7th so they should be at the house when I get home on the 22nd.
Also Rick Speed are you talking about the seats on ebay, I was looking at them but unsure whether or not I'd get them. I don't know if I like the original seats because they don't recline. I'm spoiled to the reclining seats lol. In fact I'm spoiled to the Heated seats. My Edge has heated seats lol I love em!!
I was thinking of going to the salvage yard an pulling some Gto seats or G8 seats, Around where I live I could get them for around 150 a set maybe cheaper if I haggle with the owner.
Have you checked out the Year one plastic door panels? They look nice! Maybe down the road I'll get me some.
