Well whats the plan? It seems to be a nice car.....LOVE the fact its manual window, locks and mirrors too.
Well think I have a line on a motor. The more I think about it the more I wanna just drop the factory LQ4 in it with a Vic Jr and 750 Prosytems carb and get a baseline on it. Get all my suspension lined out, get the car lightened up good and get used to it. Then start upgrading it....Z06 cam maybe, then L92 heads/new intake/Rapid cam. What you guys think? I mean part of the fun is seeing the progression of a project.

Just go ahead and put a cam and yellow springs in it while its apart just because its cheap. I've had good results with the regrind guy in texas and the 224-228 .550 112 cam. makes noise and i've done 4 of the same cams. 10.90s @124 on a 150 shot in a full weight 98 camaro a few years back

Yessir, I read your "book" last night and I want to avoid all that. I talked to dmmizell via PM and he said around 3800-4200 stall for a more street car. Also thinking probably 3.73 3.73 gears instead of the 4.10's. Gonna be running a built TH350. I plan to spray it eventually but not something Im building for right off the bat. I would be happy with a mid/low 10 sec. all motor car. It cost alot in safety gear once you bust that 9.99 mark.

I've got the correct yoke for manual mustang driveshaft (either stock v8 or frpp aluminum) to th350 yoke plus a few other parts that you might need in the for sale forum. Search my name.

This sounds alot like my build in a way. I had thoughts on just throwing the lq4 in the car and leave it stock then work from there, But at the same time think of it this way. If the motor is out of the car, Might as well throw the cam/springs in the motor and do what ever else you want to the motor before you put it in. Save time and struggle with having the motor in the car to do that stuff.
I plan on running the lq4 in my 87 notch with the aje k member and a master power t70 or similar turbo. I have a manual rack already for when i get the k. I've also got the cam as soon as the owner pulls it out of his camaro.
I'm in a struggle with deciding if i wanna do the turbo right off the bat, or leave it na till i get a decent tune on it and used to the car aswell. This is a struggle I think alot of us have with our projects. Patience is a big factor I think. Keep up on the progress though!

Now Im here at work for the next 7 days to plan the next move. First thing is gonna be to strip that engine bay out and clean it up. Then get it into the garage and get it up in the air, pull rear end out and all unneeded crap under the car....fuel tank, lines, sway bar, pinion snubber, exhaust, etc. Start stripping interior of stuff....sound deadening, part of center console, rear seat possibly, trunk carpeting, etc. Will probably be after Christmas before I get to spend any real money on it, kids come first.
Any hints to wiring up new motor? Talking like alternator and starter. Havent seen much talk about this in previous Mustang/LSx threads. Maybe it was there and I just didnt see it. Plan on battery in the trunk. Stock Mustang ignition if possible and aftermarket guages. I DO NOT wana re-wire this whole car. Gona pull the 4 banger engine wiring out on the passenger side and thats it. Not messing with anything else.

Thanks guys! Just bought some new 0821 heads!! From what I read there the same casting as the L92 0823 heads just have the hollow intake valves. Got all the rockers/stands/bolts that go with them also. Just no springs but wasnt too worried about that since the factory springs wouldnt work anyway. Any recommendations on springs or just get them from my cam guy?? Cam should be a little over .600 lift. I guess the stock longblock and Z06 cam thingy is out the window.....LOL!
