Im thinking its a 25, could be wrong. Its definitely had some work done with the Greddy intake and Timing belt. and front mount. Also that version of the Greddy intake manifold never came in a Rb20, only for the 25.

It does look like a NEO, varible cams on both the intake and exhaust. Looks like the ingition module is missing, it usually bolts to the coil cover in the back, see where the four bolt holes are back there. And either I can't see or it's not there, but looks like the injector harness isn't there.
My experience w/ them is I had one in my truck. Never liked anything about it other than the sound of a DOHC straight 6. So I sold the engine and installed the LS1 and couldn't be happier. I thought I'd love the RB25DET considering I ran a SR20DET in an 1st gen Rx7 for a while. The engine, for me, was a let down for the effort and cost.
Have a loose budget if you get it.

^ thanks for the reply, from what i see in the pics, the injector wires are going in between the intake runners, thats why it looks hidden. the ignition module? these engines are coil on plug

That's a neo motor, I had a s2 rb25 for a few yrs. Like posted before, I liked the sound, but it didn't make **** for tq or power. I'm pretty sure everything for the neo motors are more expensive also. That whole package is expensive if u try to build it. But not so much for selling. I lost 4-5k on mine just to give it away lol. I got a turbo 5.3 now and couldn't be happier! Don't waste too much $$$ on it. Its not as popular as they were 10yrs ago. Everyone has been there done that won't go back lol. Good luck

I wouldnt buy the car just for that motor. Its good for that "fast and furious" sound but pretty much nothing else... and thats coming from me I built a sr20det swapped 240 for my first project car.. stick to LS power and you'll be happier. Im thinking that you want the shell and are going to use that motor for the boat anchor that it is????
NISSAN RB engines
Just my opinion, no offense

I sold my fully built rb25 forged everything all freshly built, had about 4k miles on it for 2k and I was lucky to get that. Hell I even installed it in a skyline for a guy just to get the damn thing out my garage lol. If you got more than 1k out of the motor imo you would be doing good.

you can get a tad more out of an RB25 swapped 240 than this guy^^^^
i sold my rb25 sileighty for 5k.
that is a series 2 motor. only series 1 has the ignition module in the back of the motor. as for it being a NEO, it should have an engine cover stating that. anything 93-97 will be an S1 or S2 rb25.
also, rb25's came in R33 and R34 GTS-T's. RB26's came in R32,R33, and R34 GTR's
