Default LS1 Turbo 240sx All Done *vids and pics*

Some of you may have seen my previous threads in figuring out some starting issues, well everything is resolved. I may take some updated pics if it stops raining but for the most part here it is:

Setup:

-LS1 2002 Trans Am Block 33k miles
-317 heads decked and valve reseated
-Comp 918's (crap)
-Corvette Intake Manifold
-ATI Dampner Pulley
-Lucas 120lb injectors
-Aftermarket fuel rails
-Stock Cam
-Ebay Intercooler
-Cx Racing 76mm -.83a/r hotside a/r70 coldside
-Tial MVS wastegate
-Turbo XS BOV
-Ebay Intercooler
-Truck Manifolds
-3 bar map SD
-HP tuners
-MSD Coil Wires
-NGK TR6
-GTO Oil Pan
-AEM Injector Driver
-AEM Wideband
-Aeromotive 340 Stealth Fuel Pump
-JW Built TH350 Rev. Manual
-JW Race Converter (3600 loose) Re-stalling it soon
-Custom 3" driveshaft
-Q45 Rear end 3.54 Final drive
-skyline axles
-350z Front Brakes
-Hurst Quarter Stick Shifter

Car runs on E85, for right now its on 4.5 psi @ 22.5 degrees of timing.

Cons:
Stall is toooo loose.

Gears are abit short, plan on getting the Nissan Armada/Titan Ring and pinion 2.93 final drive.

After 5800 rpms it falls on its face, Was told by numerous its valve float, So Lunati Gold Dual Spring kit.

oooo and TIRES!!!!, wow

PROS:

The look and reaction on everyones face that sat in it. My boss nearly **** himself (seriously).

The look on everyones face at a local car meet and the 30 ppl that instantly surround it.lol

Overall coming from a 4 cyl. turbo to V8 Turbo, WOW really WOW, talk about powerband it is so instant and I could never make my 4cyl. squat but with this badboy I had to raise my exhaust up because it would squat so much the exhaust would scrap on the ground. lol

Nice ride....but valve float at 5800rpm with 4.5psi?? That does not make sense to me, as you are using 918 springs with a STOCK cam. Granted, they are not the best spring in the world, but they should not even blink at 4.5 psi. I have the same springs in my turbo car, and have not noticed any problems....granted, the car has not been completely tuned yet.....but it pulls HARD up to 6500 with 12psi right now. Then again, I'm using Ti retainers and light pushrods....maybe that's the reason?? IDK. Just seems odd to me that you'd be experiencing any float with 4.5psi. I wonder if a closer plug gap might help ya.

Now thats what noticed on other ppl's setup, When I spoke with Virginia Speed and Texas Speed they said valve float straight up. When I got the TR6 I never gapped them I just left it aat stock gap, but would that give me a misfire up top?

Your on 12 psi?? what size turbo? I actually have a log on my hptuners of the valve float happening. Also ppl said LS6 springs are good to 7 psi which boggled my brain that 918's are rated higher and im having trouble at 4.5psi?? I will try gapping the spark plugs to .26 and see if it helps. I cant think of anything else. Stock cam maybe??

it falls on its face because you have a 76mm turbo on a big *** v8

next time dont buy a turbo off ebay labled (650hp!!!! 28psi!!!!)

i would suggest somewhere between a gt3582r and gt4094r

Ok first of all I didnt buy it because it said 650hp, Sry Im not that retarded.

Second explain why there sooo many other LS1's with 76mm same hotside as mine, possible wheel diameter and there all on this website forum but they dont have this problem at all!!

I spoke with texas speed and virginia speed which alot of LS series motors on boost (especially virgina speed) and both said valve float, I even asked about my hotside and they said it wouldnt limit you to 5800 rpm, more like 6500 rpm.

I think you should get your **** str8 before you call out someone.

jokes on you buddy, gt3582 or 4094r (garret gt series is measured by the compressor exducer, every other turbo uses the inducer to determine size, gt3582 is 61mm inducer and 4094r is 68mm) are way smaller than a 76mm , hell you could run two of either of them with that motor. and yes single valve springs and boost don't usually work well.

Im shifitng around 5800-6000 rpm, Look closely at my wideband S.O.B is reading 10 flat afr. Could this be the cause? Car runs on E85 and im on 22.5 degrees of timing and 4.5 psi. Do I still have valve float or am I just too rich on fuel.

to dam rich! shouldnt get valve float at 5800. e85 takes about 2 times as much as gas does but man lean that baby out a bit up top. i usually stick it right around 11.50-12.00 depending on the motor im tuning. some motors like leaner then others.

Whats another way of finding out that I have valve float besides putting it on a dyno? Ppl that have valve float are having it with like stock ls1 springs or ls6, I cant find ONE setup thats having valve float with comp 918's at 4 PSI!!!!

Assuming your wide band is reading gas numbers that 10 flat reading could be way lower if the gauge only reads to ten. Get it leaned out and retest. I wouldn't chase valve float until you get the tune right. I bet it clears up as soon as you lean it out.
PS- just read you have an AEM wide band. It won't read below ten so you could be like 9:1 or something crazy like that.

Do you have any more information on this? I haven't heard of being able to swap those.
