ls1 miata race car build.
so after racing a 350z for a few years i wanted a different project. I picked miatas because there us an endless amount of documented knowledge when it comes to racing one.
the miata sitting next to the gf's 350z
i picked up a 1999 with 250kmiles and a blown motor.
i know the pics suck but i started and didn't really think about doing a blog.
i got a viper spec t-56 for a 2000 camaro and a sfi bell housing.
my seat that i will be using. currently used as a desk chair/forza game station
mocking up some gauges *note there is no speedo
starting to tear it down..

Seam welded. You can really fell the transitions allot better with steel holding the car together instead of glue.
The biggest and lightest stoppers for a miata. thanks Good Win!
I went with stance. They are a local company. I like to support the local companys whenever i can. nackers says amazing things about them.

9ul 15x9 wheels. thanks 949!!
Super sticky, good in the wet, and the lowest UTQG my class will allow. These will be perfect.
I took a break from the build to go racing, and won these guys. 2 races 2 first place victories, i couldn't be happier with the outcome.thanks to WCMC for putting on the event.
This car had 250,00 miles on it when i got it. and the floor pans look new.
Oh well, back to the build. More welding....
That should just about do it.

prep for paint
Sand the big areas, Scuff where the sander won't fit. Mask off for over spray.
Hammer time!!
While i waited for the pant to dry, I swapped out the K member. New k member is on the right. It's 10 lbs lighter then the old one, on the left.
in a blink of an eye the parts are swapped.

Note the start button. Thanks Nackers for the hours spent installing it.
got the diff back from project x and welded up the v8 roadsters 8.8 diff mount.
Brian Nackers wired up the dash and we installed it.

Don't forget to upgrade the front sway bar mounts. They will fatigue & then sway like barley in the wind. Really, the first area to address in terms of feeling & controlling steering transitions.
Looking good. Great work!

don't worry. i've already cut out the stock mounts, and replaced them with tube stock directly to the frame.

Ahhh, glad to hear it. Didn't see it in the pics & wanted to note it while you were in there.
This will be a great thread to follow because you are obviously motivated. So, the build & updates will likely move quickly. Rock-on.
