FWIW, Wolfe Racecraft makes an awesome bar/cage for the Mustang. I bought one for my 01 Bullitt and got there jig notching option. The install/fitment was nice and easy.....

Slim, Dville, i ended up getting an Fbody body from a guy on here. Thank you though, i did want to run an electric pump, their is alot id like to do, but wont be happening this year, lol

Snipes, i will be using the autoweld chassis 10 or 12 point weld in option, pre notched. Thanks though, ive seen wolfe cages, and they are like you said, very clean fitting.

Ive not made much progress latley, been dealing with some back issues.

Anyway, i have to clerance the trans tunnel for the PG linakge, apparently the PG is wider in this area then most others?? Thats what AJE told me. So with that said, i have to remove the trans again, which i wouldve have to do anyway, the pilot extender i got needs to be machined down a little bit to allow the converter to come forward, as of now, its got about a 1/3" to go and the pilot extender is buried in the crank, so it needs trimmed down.

Also, have made the final decision on engine management, Holley HP EFI.

This is good to know, im telling ya, i was half drunk when we put this stuff in, and i got irate really fast, we started pulling measurements accross my car trying to see if it was tweaked, i was freaking out...

i sent a pic to AJE and he said it looked pretty normal.

After a few weeks off, its time to get back to work i suppose.. lol

Went out to Brett's house this last sat night and got new seals and my PRC dual springs installed, hell of a guy. If you reading this Brett, Thanks man!

Now, got them back home, cleaned the surfaces, and put the ls9 head gaskets in, installed the arps and got them torqued down to 85 ft/lbs.

earlier last week, i got the manifolds out to a local guy, Tom From GodSpeed out in brownsburg, hell of a guy as well for some tig welding, he put my new Vband flanges on, 2.25" this time.

My new dual pass radiator will be here tomorrow, darn mail man didnt deliver anything today, so i beginning tomorrow i will start to build the turbo kit and mount the radiator.

here is a pic of the engine buttoned up and the manifolds. The passenger side is an LS4 manifold from the front wheel drive car, grand prix GXP and the monte SS. Driver side is the same the same modified Truck manifold that Andy (TLOT) did for me early last year, only with the 2.25" flange welded on.

What kind of welder do you have? I know you said you're using mild steel for the piping, and since you had your buddy tig the vbands, I'm assuming you have a mig?

I'm in the process of looking for a cheap lincoln/miller/hobart mig to learn on so I can start fabbing up my own stuff. Some of the smaller flux core/mig welders, when run with the argon bottle, I'm not sure they're capable of welding through thick enough steel to do the piping I'd need. So I was curious what model you use.

Slim, yes. I have a mig, Lincoln pro mig 187 220v.

However, when I built the kit on the gto, I used a smaller Clarke 135 110/115v welder with gas. It was plenty enough to do the 16g steel I was and am working with.

This time I'm really going to take my time and make it look pretty.

Spent a few hours tonight and built a down pipe, mounted up the turbo and started messing with charge pipe ideas, this is all for nothing as im switching to a truck manifold assuming i dont buck up the change for a Holley High Ram or a victor Jr. Im really really really considering it. Anyway, this is where its at right now.

Im thinking by this weekend i might have the trans back in so i can measure for the drive shaft and im able to do that, i should be able to finally get started on the inside. Id like to have the cage here within 3 weeks so i can get the seats and dash mounted. I did gut the dash, its down to nothing but a skin and a skeleton. Wiring should commence soon, boy o' boy am i thrilled about that ****.

cool build. I'm curious about the stock arms w/ the AJE is there any reason not to do this? Does their k member build in any front to rear offset for them that needs to be accounted for w/ aftermarket arms? I ask because i had a granatelli one on my last build that moved the wheels so far forward they nearly hit the front of the fenderwell. it was a huge PITA.

Thanks man,

From what ive seen and from what mine does, the AJE places everything in the factory position. nothing is moved.

I happen to think its a very very nice piece, also, IMHO, the only reason to go with the a arms is for the looks, according to AJE they only saved a couple lbs.

Lets see, i ditched the ls1 intake and picked up a truck manifold to use instead.

Converter is back now from a pilot extension job, cross over is finish tig welded on the insides of the flange so its ready to go back on. I need to do a few small things to it, cut it and re weld it to relieve some tension thats on it, im not liking it.

Game plan for tonight is to re install trans and converter, so i can finally measure for the DS, make a mounting plate for the oil return pump, maybe get some seat position figured out, weld the torque boxes up, basically lots of house keeping and make some custom mounts for the fuel rails on the manifold.

Also scored these today

Quick nothing here.

1. Cage will be here sometime next week.

2. Holley HP EFI stand alone engine management will be here either tomorrow or Monday.

3. Turbowerx EXA gear driven oil scavenge pump, only the baddest damn scavenge pump in the world will be here tomorrow as well. THANKS TOM!

4. Fuel tank and fuel system is getting the triple walbro treatment, and maybe something special......

Since we have a spare CNG kit lying around, we may try to run this thing on CNG for ***** and giggles and see what it can do. thats a big MIGHT. its been offered to me to try it if i want to. I would have to buy the tank though. We will see.

Anyhow, if im lucky, i may actually start the motor this weekend.
