Easy for someone sitting in the stands to say. Last night on motor I made 2 passes before the nitrous pass and shifted at 7200 on the second pass and it slowed 4 hundredths compared to the pass shifting at 6800. The member on here that shifted that high was running a carb set up and and his intake had that kind of range I'm running an LS6 intake.

I'd rather get the 60ft down and tweak the timing and run 9's and be able to keep on running than to shift it to the moon and "hope" it holds together.

Nice build.

How are you liking the Holley EFI? Is it as easy as they make it to be?

Couldn't be happier with it. I wouldn't have an engine if it wasn't for the Holley. The E85 nitrous jetting was way off on my combo and without the Holley compensating for it I would have done some damage.

As for easy it's pretty simple compared to most stand alone systems I've dealt with. Granted it's not as simple as plugging in a tuner and hitting upload.

First off good job on the 9.85 thats fantastic. What did you shift at on that pass i forgot your injected and your right maybe your intake doesnt support that rpm. The combo might see some gains from a diff cam swap but its obviously running plenty good enough. Id like to do a grudge race with you. Wanna see if your 5.3 on nitrous is faster than my stock block 331 on motor>? Heres a link to my little hot rod sorry for switching topics a bit just so u know i dont ( sit in the stands) sorry for coming off as a dick.

Thanks. Shifting at 6950-7000. A cam designed for my combo would probably pick up some as well as a decent set of heads. I have the 862's that the engine came with and are pretty much the worst of all the stock LS heads. If we get some decent weather it should get into the 9.7's as it sits.

I've been racing since the early 90's, raced NMRA/FFW for 5 years and work in the industry I know what SBFs are capable of. Feel free to bring it to PBIR for some friendly runs however my street racing/betting days are over. I have nothing to prove just having fun with the car.

5.3 on nitrous faster than a stock block 331? Wow.......a stock block 331 might be faster for a pass or 2. lol I have had a decent sbf too and its gonna be hard to compete with the 5.3 on nitrous for very long without splitting that stock block. I ran 10.92 with a 302, 6.82 in the 1/8 mile, I couldnt touch that 5.3.

If you know where the put money into them they can go pretty fast. Friend of mine had a NA 306 set up for a specific class that ran 9.0's on a stock block. He was also revving it to 9k.

I'll stick to junkyard engines that cost as much as the nitrous kit in the car.

Go watch the videos and then decide if you believe it's an OEM SBF roller motor block. I watched a few and I don't believe it is.

I know they can run good....for a little while. I sprayed mine a few times and went 6.37 on a 175 shot. Mine ran 10.90s with all stock shortblock, most people NEVER believed me, it was always a 347.....I gave 100 for the 88 model shortblock and bolted my 185s on it and custom cam and ran the **** out of it. I beat many a 331 and 347s with it. as a matter a fact, i beat a 414 windsor with it. LOL. He clamied he would half track me, he went 6.50s on spray, i went 6.30s. His didnt run too good tho for what it was. My point was for the cubes he had, I knew I could hang close. I got tired of being limited by block strength. I loved my sbf, just wanted to go faster, cheaper.

From what I've read 2-3 tenths on motor but no real world experience to be sure. I would think it would pick up a little more on the spray but not sure. I've considered doing heads but really I'd like to get the cage done and get the car painted. After that if I found a great deal on some used heads I might try that but otherwise I'd look at something aftermarket that would work with the smaller bore size of the 5.3.

I'm running an MS3 cam 237/242 .603"/.609". I tried shifting at 6500 and it slowed down.
