4.8L into 4th Gen FBody
Also if later I upgraded the heads / cam, what kind of power could I make out of it?
And finally what would a procharged or turbo'd 4.8L do at about 8 PSI?
n/a 4.8 with full bolts ons could get up as high as 400hp without too much trouble, nice heads would be the key there. Force-fed set ups would get closer to 600hp. And for the same money as a procharger set up you could bore and stroke a 4.8 out to a 383 without too many issues. That's worth about 500hp.
Here's the real question, how much are you wanting to spend on your 4.8 on top of the install into your 4th gen? Your budget will give you a better idea of how much power you can build.
NA? well.. I wouldn't bother really on a 4.8. 5.3... eh if you want close to ls1 stock power for a budget maybe. 6L would be the best bet for that route.
Thing is, my 3.8L is about to die and I've been planning on doing a V8 swap for a long time but I'm on a budget. A 6.0L will probably be slightly too expensive. A 5.3L can probably be done with ease but I noticed how inexpensive the 4.8's were and it got me to thinking.

One thing I've wondered is where to mount Turbo's in an LSX powered 4th Gen F-Body.
If I had the extra money I would consider doing that right now but I'd have to put it off - Im also wondering what heads/cam will do.
I am very tempted to go for the Turbo but it's such a squeeze with the big V8 in there and all... I would have to go with a Tubular K-Member wouldnt I?
