Why is everyone getting so much better mileage than me? last tank I got 15mpg with mods in my sig. I admit im not easy with the throttle but I shouldn't be getting that low. I also put brand new o2 sensors in when I did my headers in december so thats not it.

You have a relatively short tire and not overly deep gearing. With that gearing and tire you are probably turning around 2400 RPM at 70 mph. You can't do much about the weight and aerodynamics but if you go to say a 29 inch tall tire your revs will drop by 250 RPM. A 3.08 rear with your current tires will put you at 2000 RPM. Not sure how far you would want to go with a truck.

Default mpg

Thanks for the advice pop n wood. my tire/rim size is approximatley 26.75 inches tall & it weighs 3800 lbs. so if i decrease the gearing to 3.08 or 3.42 will i see better milage? ive seen others with larger displacements with more mpg. with a lower gear ratio, will i loose my grunt? i may need to google gear ratios. i may need a re-tune also.

Sork915.. it is also in the Tune. Many Tuner are out there and will offer you a great WOT tune.. !.. but for Drivablity.. you need to have the Tuner work on the complete RPM Range for better driviablity and Gas Mileage.

I had Mark Romans (Sacramento, CA) do my tune and he is know for doing a great job on this subject.

I am still trying to get the tune right so hopefully it goes up significantly but so far I am getting 14mpg. I hope that after I get the tune where it needs to be and learn to stay off the throttle a little more I can get somewhere around 18-19 mpg

66 Chevelle, 6.0, 4l80e, 3k PTC converter, 3.08 gears, 26" tires
