Default LS 6.0 in 78 camaro

I have a 1978 camaro ive recently picked up and i want to swap a 6.0 truck engine into. The car has the original 305 and borg warner t10 4 speed with 55,000 original miles and its time for a more powerful engine. I want to run a t56 with it and havent seen any t56 x members for my style camaro so im curious as to if i would have to custom fab something or if any one knows who sells a t56 cross member for a 74-81 camaro. Im also contemplating if i should stay efi or do the carburetor conversion. The car is also getting all new suspension, rear end, brakes etc. If anyones done one of these swaps or knows a bit more about them let me know, thanks

Use the search function here and also head over to Nastyz28.com. It's been done a bunch before.

Go EFI, just a better system all the way around. Leave the suspension and rebuild it with polyurethane components and hard parts. It takes a lot of money to improve it and it's not much of an improvement anyway. The factory started to get it together on suspension when the 2nd gen came out. Leave the rear end. It is very strong to start with. Add a posi and the gear you want and you're set there. Leave the front brakes alone and convert the rear to disc from factory parts or aftermarket. Once again, 4wd on these cars are pretty damn good. There, I saved you several thousand dollars to go towards getting the motor and tranny in the car.

Trans Dapt makes a crossmember for our 2nd gens, IIRC you can buy it from Jegs for like 80 bucks.... Although you'll need to get your motor mount adaptors first, those will determine how far forward/backward the drivetrain sits.. Definitely stay efi, to me it kinda defeats the purpose of putting an LS motor in the car to throw the carb stuff on it, not to mention that 800 dollar price tag....
