I just did a ls6 swap with t56 tranny, such a headache. I wish I would of went with the auto tranny, it would of been much cheaper and easier. The shop that did my swap had to cut my original tunnel out and refab new tunnel. If you haven't start your project yet, you should consider going with an auto tranny, you'll thank me later.

No auto is going to be as cool as having "The man pedal" and dual overdrives.
Trust me, my 1st swap was an auto (GTO LS1/4L60e) and I regret doing the auto
I learned from doing my first swap in 2006 after I paid a shop that I didn't want to do that again.
Now I'm doing my 2nd with my 1970 442 getting the LY6 / T-56
I took welding classes and bought a Lincoln 180T.......
LY6 and T-56 are in, I just gotta weld in a new tunnel now, or add material to my old one.

Wow, looks like you're going with some high end stuff! Should be super nice when you're done.
As for the tunnel, it's not that difficult to do but not having any fab or welding experience will make it a little harder.
If you check out my thread you'll see a pretty easy way to build a template for the custom tunnel you need to fit your trans. The only thing you need is to find a buddy that has a little welding experience and a roll of 1/4" uncoated steel line. You can bend the hoops to fit over the trans with the desired clearance then put in the small bracing from hoop to hoop, a few tach welds here and there and BOOM you're done. Cut it away from the floorpans and take it to a local HVAC or Auto Body shop, have them roll some steel to wrap it and you have yourself a nice custom tunnel.
