Default 72 Chevelle L92/T56 project starting soon

Hey guys, just a heads up I got an awesome project getting ready to go down. I've never swapped a motor in my life. With help I'm gonna attempt to do the
swap myself. I'm still missing a couple parts, but here's what I have to start.
L92 motor 0 miles LS3 intake ( when I bought the motor I was told it was a LS3)
•Dirty dingo motor mounts
•Ricks fuel tank
•Aeromotive regulater
•hydramax hydraulic clutch kit
•T56 tranny(built) LS3 clutch PP,FW
•Kwik alt ps bracket
•pedals
I plan on going with a Holley oil pan and Doug's headers from amazon, I still don't know what I'm doing for gauges I have a swoop style dash. Open to suggestions and tips. I figure worst case scenario I could get the motor in a outsource the wiring. Here's some pics of the car as of now.

Oh WOW.. another A-Body conversion..!.. Oh.. wait.. I got one too ! LOL good to see another one, I enjoy following along on these builds..

Is it a true (number matching) SS ?

Looks like you got a great start to the project.. that motor looks new ?.. is it or is it just a very clean pull out !?

For a trans X-member. You should be able to take your TH350 one, flip it 180, cut the tab off and re weld it back on as you need. I did that on my 71 Swap.

There is a good chance that the T56 will require some trans tunnel cutting and rebuilding. Suggest you try a T-Cut 1st. then if that doesn't work out. Cut away and start rebuilding a new trans tunnel.

Keep the posts coming..

That's a nice car, I like the color. L92 is an LS3 but with VVT and some different valves, those are the only differences I know of (other than the intake of course) so not too big a deal; I'm putting one in my 71. Best of luck.

Thanks, what did u end up doing for your tunnel?
It's a clone, the only thing that's gives is the dash. I did a 12 bolt with 355 gears. I been hearing alot of different things about vvt and t56 together but it's my only option. I think I'll be ok being I'm not gonna drag race it or autocross just a reliable daily driver.

The L92 was a truck/SUV motor, it appears you have an L99 from a 5thgen Camaro. Not much difference, but having the car intake and the lighter valves already. There's a few VVT-T56 threads/conversions going on or done, you will have to get a custom tune since there were no factory VVT manual trans.

You can read up on my build by following my link in my Sig. .it is a cardomain site. I Cut the trans tunnel off and had it rebuilt.

I also have a 12 bolt with 4.11 gears. With my Viper T56.. I get 26+ mpg on the Highway to the Drags and Autocross's.

Can't comment on T56 with VVT.. since I have not worked with any VVT engines.

Yea I thought it might be an L99 as well, but gen 5's have 8 bolts on the flywheel, my has 6. All my part numbers are the same as L92 except the intake. The water pump, oil Pan and exhaust manifold all point to a truck motor.
The confusing part is this motor is brand new never been started. So the Ls3 intake seems like it came like that. Sombody must of put that on though

Why would a flexplate have 8 bolts when all the cranks have only 6 holes?

You didn't include pics of the oil pan or water pump, so we can't comment...

That's the link where I got the info about the 8 bolt thing. There's a special note at the end of one of the paragraphs. In the section titled CRANKSHAFTS
Here is the part numbers of what I have. Maybe you can help me confirm, it would be awesome if this were an L99 my only guess would be if the use the same parts as a L92
Block p/n 12584724 <l92
Head 823 <l92
Intake 12610434 < ls3
Intake manifold 12602477<ls3
Water pump 12600767 <truck
Oil pan 12619776 <truck I believe
