Default Need help with truck harness

I'm in the planning stage of a 5.3 swap. I'm thinking of using a L33 with a truck intake. My question is which harness would be better or easier ? Should I use a 99-02 harness and go dbc or try to find to find 05-07 harness that was for a L33 and go dbw ? Like to know the pros and cons of each.

I went with DBC with all of my lsx projects. DBW will give you the cruise control options, but you will need the throttle pedal out of the vehicle the engine came from and complete wiring harness and Tac box.

DBC was easier for my projects and the cruise control wasnt a big deal for me, but if you do alot of street/hgwy driving it might be nice to have.

Get the harness, pedal, and TAC with the engine. Clean up the harness yourself.

Personally I found the DBW was easier than dealing with the mechanical aspects of a Cable System.

I'd say that if you are comfortable with working with and fabricating brackets and adapters or chasing down the right piece verses the 8-10 wires that a DBW setup adds go with the cable system.

As far as fabricating brackets goes on the DBW, the only thing you will need to figure out is how to mount the pedal.

Boils down to personal preference. But as stated above, if you decide to go DBW, do yourself a favor and get the tac/pedal/tac harness from the donor vehicle as you will reduce cost. If you cant find them, we have them in stock. PM or call us.

Repinning is a pain.
Changing to DBW involves repinning and reprogramming for the MAF, IAT, and IAC. Keeping DBW eliminates that and gets you easy cruise control.
The only addition is the pedal to TAC harness. That cost me $35.

Don't know what you mean by changing to DBW. If the engine is a L33 it has the correct sensors for a 05-07 dbw harness , does it not. I think what your saying is stay dbw.

Sorry to jump in on your tread, but I'm looking to clean up my own harness, my question is where can I find instructions to do so. Once again sorry for jumping in.

Agreed and agreed. Wiring a DBW setup was a lot easier for me... but I really like wiring. It usually comes down to personal preference!

I've done both, IMHO it was easier just to get some aftermarket fuse holders and relays and start from scratch. First swap I used a 5.3 underhood fuse box and It was a pain repinning it and its not as compact as the aftermarket ones.

I used a fuse box from a 2008 Impala and if I had to do it over again, I would also probably get a new fuse/relay box and start from scratch. There are some nice aftermarket ones out there. They are not cheap, but they're money well spent IMO.

Aftermarket fusebox for the whole car that integrates the LS fuses.
And you'll need a relay panel, here's a great deal on a 4 gang: horn, fuel pump, 2 electric fans.

I used these, Painless Performance Products 30002. Because I only needed a harness for the engine. For relays I just used individual relays that I mounted to fender.
