7.5"? I thought there was a spacer required, if your factory gears were numerically under 3.08?

I know I had to use a spacer in my box malibu's 7.5", when I went from 2.xx to a 3.73 gear.

It's a 7.5". I'm guessing the 41 on the ring gear is how many teeth is on it. I'm not sure of the ratio. Will there be a spacer in from the factory?

I got around to a few things on my car. I was having a charging problem so I rewired the alternator, put an LS1 water pump on it, installed BMR tubular upper and lower rear links and I got brand new Holley 750 cfm. The gears in my car are 2:41's. I ordered the right 3:73's and got a steal of a deal on a set of 98-02 f-body rear discs. The vinyl top made it off. It's bad but not as bad as I thought.

I had put a 7.5" from a 92 cop car in an older B body, you need to add a spacer to go from a 2.xx to a 3.xx, but i dont like the spacers. went from a 2.43 i think it was to a 3.31. After 2 years the bolts walked outa the ring gear (proper longer bolts with lock tight) and it jammed the rear end. I couldn't get the carrier out as it was jammed wierd, at point i decided to just get a proper 10 bolt with the bigger gear and ditch the 7.5" junk.

This was in an olds wagon so getting any gears for the stock rear end is near impossible as it was a huge 12bolt gear in a 10 bolt housing, all olds crap. I ended up with a caprice wagon rear end with all chevy stuff so I can change the gears as I need and i dont have to worry bout a spacer

Dang, did u put loctite on the bolts. There isn't a spacer in mine. I have a bigger 8.2" for my car I don't feel like swapping it out.

Yeah and its not the first carrier ive put together either. I dunno why they came loose...I imagine that it has to do with that spacer and the fact a wagon prolly shouldnt have a 7.5 in it. That rear end was an inch or so too narrow too, but the original one had the bolt in the pin through the spiders broken off, so i had to drill out the pin, and at that point i found out there was no easy to get parts aside from the junk yard, so i figured just get a chevy rear to put a nicer ratio in it, and thats what i got stuck with.

If you can find a 94-6 Impala SS rear end, all you would have to do is change the axles to ones that fit the bolt pattern. I got one for $300, got moser axles for $280. You get posi and rear discs with that set up. It's an 8.5 rear end. I had the original discs redrilled to accommodate the bolt pattern.

I just had my shop change the bowl on the column shift to one that's floor shift. As far as a console, I used a repro 70-81 Firebird console with a B&M Quicksilver. I went that route because those are easier to find than a Cutlass G body console (this is the one the Holiday 88 used), the LeSabre used a Regal console, and the Pontiac Bonneville used a Grand Prix console. All the G-Body consoles I found on ebay cost an arm and a leg and that's for a fixer upper. This is on my 78 Impala Landau.

What year Cutlass G body console would fit in what year Delta 88's. I own a 1978 Delta 88 Royale?

78-88 Cutlass g body consoles were used on the Holiday 88s with the floor shift. This will fit 77-85 Delta 88's and Custom Cruisers up to 90.

Thanks fellows. I actually forgot about this question. I never worked on a steering column and I heard a horror story about someone removing the shifter arm of an s10 column and it locked up.

I took a drive down the road and I'm glad I made it back. My headlights were the same color as big bird! I still have the passenger side to do but side by side I can tell a difference. When I put a f-body water pump on I made an idler pulley relocation bracket that let me use a 100" belt.

dashzracing.com. They were $32 a pair you do have to make some room for them and the inboard ones have the same socket as the outboard. So some wiring is in order.

How is everyone running there return line, sending unit wise? My sending unit has 2 barbs. A feed and vent. Should I use a newer model sending unit like out of a 90's b-body?
