you should read the fairmont thread in forced induction forum on here by denmah. It'll give you an idea of what he did to build his JY motor. Also, give you an idea of how much the motors can take.

not sure you need all the ARP stuff right away, but you do need to swap the springs to support whatever cam you will be running.

Merims123

Im thinking of dual springs even if I plan on running the z06 cam.

Couple of questions, what type of pushrods will I need. I've been doing a lot of reading and people say stock is fine.

Another question
I'm a bit confused as to open the ring gap or not. Skinnes suggested in his thread stock was fine. And then I find this from sinisters thread.

Sorry guys im just trying to do a lot of reading and educate myself on this as it is my first build.

I know a dead on tune is key and I'm more then confident cms can take care of me.

Any information is appreciated

What if I use ls6 valve springs would that compensate. A sponsor on this site said it would work as you said but the correct size would be 7.425. Ill stick with my pushrods

Ill call to make sure.

So far things I have ordered are the ls6 valve springs.
Z06 cam (eBay)
Stock MLS head gaskets
arp head bolts (are they all the same?)

I'm still looking for a complete ls1 oil pan
water pump
alternator
and crank pulley.
Truck manifolds

Finding things local or within 80 miles is hard.

arp head bolts are not the same. the 04+ blocks are different than 03 and earlier (so you have to order for your block)

i know it's expensive, but you can get a new pan kit for 300-330 form a chevy dealership. check in with sdpc the sponsor here. what are you doing for steering?

Ill be getting 02 arp bolts then.

For steering I'm going with a manual rack and pinion from these guys

http://shop.rackdoctor.net/CAMARO_c40.htm

I'm trying to get this thing as light as possible. I'm taking it to the scale tomorrow. They just opened a public scale close by.

Ill check scdc for an oil pan. If not ill check the dealer its a block away but they are so expensive.

I bought a set of LS6 pushrods too ! But I have them forsale cause I was told also that they would work but are not the correct length. I didn't want anything to break or go bad due to it so I bought a set of 7.425's.

I picked up ~62 whp with a Z06 cam/springs in a stock 5.3 N/A through manifolds on a Mustang 1750se dyno, I think it's a worthwhile choice with how cheap you can get them.

The z06 cam a forum member out in Tustin is selling it for 125 I've bought parts from him and all in great conditions, but due to my only days off being Friday I don't want him to hold it so if it hasn't sold by friday this will be my cam.

The 216/216 will cost me $175

A lot of threads are making me lean towards the single pattern on a small 4.8 but there are to many variables, one being my bottom end is stock.

Thanks for replying guys
