Default 57k miles 5.3 complete for $1,200

I just left the JY and I'm coming back this Monday to pick up my 5.3 just wondering if I paid to much. I'm pretty sure I didn't but it doesnt hurt to ask the veterans

Its going in my 95 Camaro, switching to fbody accessories z06 manifold $150 .z06 cam local for $120. And found a stock ls1 kmember for $100.

Yea I bought it. Hoping this conversion isn't too much for 1 person.

The truck harness is useless right? How much are you guys paying for a ls1 harness and pcm?

Truck harness isn't useless. I converted mine with a soldiering iron and about $15 worth of wire. Took me like 10 hours though.

Thanks for the info ill see if MERV can do it for me, Still not confident enough to mess with wires. How many of you have ran the 5.3 with a z06 cam n/a for awhile?

What car did you swap the 5.3 into?

So I was looking over the block and noticed it was cracked from the bottom. I got my money back as it never left the junk yard. My luck!!!!

They have a 4.8 for 600 complete with 90k miles this block looks great without any cracks should I go 4.8 or just wait for another 5.3 . I need some opinions please.

I used the truck harness and ecu. If it was a flex fuel motor, the injector even work with the LS1 manifold.
Wait on a 5.3. I've seen complete 4.8s as low as $250, nobody seems too interested in them.

if you go with the 4.8 , turbo it?

Those prices seem high in your area for engines. where are you?

in chicago, 5.3s can be had from 400-800. did you check car-part.com? you can save some money, you don't need the ls1 kmember, you can use your lt1 kmember with adapters, Merv has the parts in one of his threads.

I'm located in Los Angeles I can't seem to find any 5.3 below a $1,000.

Turbo is the direction I'm headed. The plan is to go 5.3 single front mount turbo and IC for simplicity. No twins here

I have mervs thread and spoke with him a bit, he ran into some clearance issues with the adaptors and the T56.

I bought both my engines off ebay from yards that regularly sell takeouts. I lowballed offers on auctions that didn't sell, got both. Waranteed for a year, freight shipping was under $100 to a terminal. One even got shipped overnight!

Alex,

Check A-1 Auto and Truck wrecking in Rialto. I just did a quick search in their on-line inventory for an '02 5.3 and got three hits for $700 (1) and $600 (2) @ 27, 35, & 38K miles. Big inventory, but it changes fast; call them.

Glad you found something. Keep us abreast of what you get, what was included, and how they were to deal with.

I will keep you updated with as much information as possible. Over the phone they seemed nice. They did say I would have to pay a 200 core charge bringing the total to 800 for a 5.3 with 37k miles complete
